Thanks so much for the video, I'm trying to change from doing hands on tade work to becoming a strength and conditioning coach and videos like these help so much, the more I hear about this line of work the more I want it.

This was a great video! Very informative and preparatory! Thank you very much! I hope by following all of these steps, I can land my first job as a S&C coach not too long after an internship.

Hi Matt, I just passed my CSCS exam and wanted to first thank you for your continued effort in helping all those embarking on the S&C journey! Secondly, I am a PT student and like you want to fully embrace the CSCS but as you know the demands of PT school are high. How would you go about building experience? I know you said internships are ideal but I’m not sure if I have the time availability for that.
@TheMovementSystem2 жыл бұрын
First off congrats on passing! Your route will likely look different since you’re preparing to use your CSCS in a PT role. I’d look into opportunities to network with current coaches and drop in on a session here and there rather than a full internship. There was an interesting role at Ohio State where a PT was considered the “Athletic Reconditioning Specialist”. She would take individuals or groups of athletes who were dealing with minor injuries and modify their training sessions right on the spot while the team was training. So if an athlete was having pain back squatting she would take her aside and work with her on a regression or modification and make a plan to get her back to full training. It was a really cool role.

I'm a sport club coach, who is also the head of s&c for the team. I probably make as much, if not more than most s&c jobs, and my hours are much better. Private sector s&c seems to get overlooked quite a bit.
@TheMovementSystem2 жыл бұрын
Definitely a lot of opportunity in the private sector especially if you’re willing to be proactive and build relationships and market yourself and your training center.

Matt you should do a video on the bleep/beep pacer test!

Good idea. I used to have my high school record for that test

That portfolio program is pretty smart . Where do you even get these ideas from ?

Just through the network of other coaches I’ve met over the years

CSCS certification is a online exam?

Hey Matt, Great Video. I wanted to ask for your opinion on the internship aspect of preparing for working in the field. Currently I'm working as a physical therapist aide with over a yr of experience (post kin grad). In my outpatient clinic, I work alongside multiple PTs who are also CSCS and coach the personal training clients alongside them. Do you think this opportunity is sufficient enough to prepare myself for a CSCS setting? Thanks!

Is CSCS mandatory to have for any country in the world ?

Dude, can I ask something?? I am a medical doctor for 10 years and I just absolutely bored with the mundane and busy working condition....I am considering to take CSCS to gain knowledge......Am I qualify to enroll for the CSCS exam right now?? Or do I need to restart my whole life by enrolling a degree in physiotherapy in order to enroll for CSCS??
@TheMovementSystem2 жыл бұрын
You’ll want to check the requirements on the NSCA website to be sure but the requirement at this time is any 4 year degree. So I believe if you get the book and study you should be able to sit for the exam.

Hello, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. Do you think this would qualify me to sit for the exam? Thank you
@alxsa.275 ай бұрын
All you need is a bachelors degree to take the exam but it may be harder because you didn’t specifically study exercise science or kinesiology
