when i first saw this series in this very video a year ago my first thought was "this looks like a really old video game". They animated it like Mr Game & Watch, but those style games had to be animated that way since they were trying to shrink a full sized game down to handheld sized, which was difficult for the time so they had to sacrifice alot of detail to make it happen. Even by animated TV series this was bad, it came out within a few months of Aeon Flux (a series made by a producer who mostly did cheap animation) and Darkwing Duck (a cheaply made Disney cartoon, at the time they outsourced alot of animation to countries like Taiwan or Korea) and both had much better animation. Honestly this whole series seems like it would be more at home in the 70's if they changed the music style from Pop Hip-Hop to Funk or Soul music.

Lots of people use the complaint of bad animation looking like the animators just colored in the storyboards, which I kinda find a ridiculous complaint, but after looking at the animation of this show, I stand corrected to that statement.
@G0ATFAC38 жыл бұрын
When a character changes from one pose to another, the choppiness of the animation doesn't bother me, and at times actually seems kind of stylistic (like when you have your avatar up on screen). It can be kinda neat. However, the moment anything in the show attempts to convey motion of any kind, it all falls flat. NOTHING looks natural.

Let's give Mr. Enter a Patreon request that is to do an Admirable Animation on Milo Murphy's Law! It helped Disney XD get back on its feet!
@EuMesmoVII6 жыл бұрын
I was going to say exactly this. The celebrity cartoon is planned with said celeb in mind, while (from what I've read superficially about it) Milo Murphy seems like a show that would be aired anyway and the producers thought a well known voice would be an extra touch and a "bait" for the parents. If "Milo" is a celeb cartoon for Weird Al, then "Brace Face" is it for Alicia Silverstone and any show which features Mark Hammill is it for him.
@arthas6405 жыл бұрын
Yeah a celebrity cartoon is where the celebrity is a focal point and is at least loosely based on themselves where they play themselves. Milo Murphy just has a celebrity in it. I think Jackie Chan isn't a celebrity cartoon since Jackie Chan didnt appear as himself (although he appeared in bumpers and at the end of each episode), the show was well balanced in terms of character development and focus, and the show avoided the "Mary Sue" characteristics they normally heap on celebrity cartoon stars.
@EuMesmoVII5 жыл бұрын
@@arthas640: By tbe way, I would've never known "Milo" featured a famous voice, since it's aired dubbed in Portuguese here in Brazil and the character's voice artist is just a regular dubbing professional. (But they replaced Alicia Silverstone in "Braceface" with well known TV actress Mariana Ximenes.) Your case about "Jackie Chan" is valid. I think we have a blurry border here: it looks more like Jackie is playing a character (a younger, hotheaded version of himself) with a distinct personality, but his presence there still looks like the cartoon's main selling point. It's a strange hybrid... (And, from a clarity point, I think it should be better to write "him/herself", or some neologism like "hirself" instead of "themselves". Or at least "themself", if you really want to follow the "singular they" path.) (P.S.: Please don't feel offended by the last paragraph. It's just some advice on style and making things less confusing, especially for a non-native speaker like me...!)

WOW! I was not ready to see that animation. Like, I understand the intro of a cartoon is usually given much better animation than that of the actual episode within, you know, first impressions and all that. But my God, the intro of this cartoon created such an illusion on how it was actually animated. Like, this is nearing the low animation quality of Legends of Chamberlain Heights, Jesus Christ

LOL, he's right, Weird Al's parody of 'You Can't Touch This' fits this show like a glove, especially its entire first verse! Speaking of whom, 'Milo Murphy's Law' is definitely worthy of an Admirable Animation, now there's a celebrity- based cartoon done right!

Clutch Cargo has even less animation then this. Imagine still images with someone's mouth in place of the character's. It is bizarre.

Why are People starting to hate on Cow and Chicken? I Mean it's not one of the greatest Cartoon Network shows, but it's still better than shows like Squirrel Boy, Teen Titans Go!, Uncle Grandpa and Problem Solverz.

Weasel and Baboon was okay ...but the rest of the show is horrible- just annoying. I think people have nostalgia goggles for it.

eartianwerewolf Why do you think it's horrible then?

I'll Tell you why I think Cow and Chicken sucks. I hate there wanna be Ren and Stimpy gross out style. It wasn't funny or entertaining, it was simply just weak sauce. So sitting through an episode was more of a chore than anything. But I would rather run a marathon of that then watch one episode any of the other shows you listed.

When I'm telling a story, I'm like "Three Typical average kids: They found a haunted mansion! Just by chance they freed a ghost and it made then Beetleborgs." When mom's telling a story is like "Here's how it started: A long time ago. The legend of the Hammerman and how it began to grow..."

I mean there is Disney's Gummi Bears, that one is a great example of food-based cartoons. The characters are simple, but likeable, the show has a folk/fairy-tale vibe to it, Igthorn and Toady are hilarious, it has a pretty solid lore that establishes the world, so I'd say it works rather well with what it has to offer. It's just wants to be enjoyable and I think it accomplishes that.

6:08 Thanks for mentioning Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids! It's one of my favorite cartoon shows of all time and one of the few good cartoon shows from the 1970's.

You remind me of PhantomStrider. If you haven't already asked, I feel that'd be a fun little crossover - each comparing your most obscure best-or-terrible animated movies/tv shows and then having the other review it.

They probably had the live action bits at the beginning and end so that it would fill up the half hour and reduce the amount of animation they had to do. It would also explain why the theme song was a bit longer than most other cartoons from that era (some other cartoons from that time period took the same kinds of shortcuts, but at least those other shows still had more redeeming qualities than this one)

There's a movie in my country called ¡Que vecinos tan animales! which has the same animation style as Hammerman (except that I could even say is worse) and it actually won a Goya! (for those that don't know, a Goya is like an spanish Oscar)

What made Showbiz think that becoming a tuba player would make you rich? Those insruments are usually stuck playing in the background, and rarely get to play the melody! Heck, they don't even use them in small bands, especially rock or rap! I don't even recall tubas being used in jazz bands, and they used trombones, which also doesn't get a lot of focus!

HOLY CRAP!! Are those the same shoes that got 'dipped' in Who Framed Roger Rabbit!? :O Cuz that would just be HILARIOUS! xD I've always wondered what cartoon those shoes belong to. Also, the bad guy's voice is the same as Beastly from Care Bears ;) lol

If you're hero is going to have the power to litterally do anything, then that better be the joke of the series, and have some great jokes about it. Bobobo worked because of this, but Hammerman...not so much.
