Will your anchor hold in the storms of life When the clouds unfold their wings of strife? When the strong tides lift and the cables strain Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?

My goodness gracious....from 1973 to 1980 we sang this hymn in our high school...at least twice a week...over 40 years now and it brings tears to my eyes. Oh what an anchor The Lord has been through all these years with all the challenges I faced..he kept me safe and carried me when necessary. Allowing me to succeed in life and to share my experiences with others...little did I know during my teenage years singing this hymn that it would have been so impactful in my adult life...WHAT AN ANCHOR WE REALLY HAVE IN THE STORMS OF LIFE....

Same here. I’ve been active in BB since I was 5 years old way back in 1987. I just a few weeks away from the joining age back then. But the captain didn’t see any harm in me joining before the prescribed age of 6. I was only 4 weeks away anyhow

Joined the company Bugle Band at 8 on Cymbals. Moved to drum. Moved to Bell Lyre. Finally settled on Bugle. Had many happy memories over the years. Been on many camps in the Bell tents. Setting off before everyone else on an advance party to put all the tents up. Church parades always used to pack out the church on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Extra chairs down each aisle. Us on the right side of the church. Girls Brigade on the left. Congregation in the middle section. Both the BB and GB took up pretty much every single row of seats on our respective sides of the church. Minus two rows which were for any family members of the Boys or Girls in the Brigades. Sadly some people in the church were extremely short sighted in their attitudes towards young people and drove both Brigades away. First the GB then us in BB. Then the organisation that tried to pick up up where the Brigades left off. Now the church is closed down. In the last few years of the church, the only people left were the Vicar. The stewards. The organist. And the only congregation member who just happened to be the captain who let me into BB. He was the 2nd of only 4 captains in that companies history. But along with the 1st captain..... he was one of the founding officers.

@ScottyBugler20053 жыл бұрын
@@theaccountwashackedbycriminals what in God’s name was that sulphur you’re spewing out? The Boys Brigade is a Christian uniformed youth organisation. We’re not linked to the military in any way shape or form. We use drill however to teach discipline. teamwork. Encourage leadership skills. Encourage the young people to hopefully have good posture rather than slouching. The bible scripture classes we used to do back in the day were started because Sir William Alexander Smith the BB Founder was a Christian gentleman. He founded the BB because he encountered lots of unruly boys in the Sunday school at his church. He thought that experiences in the Lanarkshire Rifles Volunteers could help him to teach those unruly elements some much needed discipline and respect. Hence the object of the Boys’ Brigade being the promotion of habits of obedience. Reverence. Discipline. Self respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness. I’ve been involved with the BB since I was 5 back in 1987. I’ve been a boy. Officer and now instructor. People like Sir Alex Ferguson. Alex McLeish. Ally McCoist. James Nesbitt. Sir Cliff Richard. And quite a few other celebrities have been involved with the BB too. Alex Ferguson owes everything to the BB. He’s even said that in interviews

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life, When the clouds unfold their wings of strife? When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain, Will your anchor drift or firm remain? We have an anchor that keeps the soul Steadfast and sure while the billows roll; Fastened to the rock which cannot move, Grounded firm and deep in the Saviour's love. Will your anchor hold in the straits of fear, When the breakers roar and the reef is near? While the surges rave and the wild winds blow, Shall the angry waves then your bark o'erflow? Will your eyes behold through the morning light, The city of gold and the harbour bright? Will you anchor safe by the heavenly shore When life's storms are past for evermore?
