It's ironic how much conformity is pushed in skateboarding culture, when the ethos of skateboarding is unstructured self expression. More skaters would probably all have more fun if they stopped worrying about how they're perceived because of stylistic choices.

It’s amusing that humans have come so far as to be categorical about the incredible things we see, because we’ve seen so many incredible things before. This trick reminds me that my gauge for assigning value to feats should be only in the answers to the questions, “can I do that?” and then “how big is the margin between what I can do and the thing that I can’t do?” In this case, it’s such a huge margin, and that margin lies in the coordination and athleticism required to do it. The grip tape - or lack there of - sure as hell isn’t making the difference, so I’ll just go back to being amazed.

Besides competition ALL skateboarding is freestyle. There arent actually rules. Its not a team sport. Its supposed to be about having fun and expressing yourself. Trying to put labels on things or make them count less is kook behavior. Stop taking away from what skaters are doing because it doesnt fit into your tiny little box. Skateboarding was never supposed to have boxes. Its entirely okay to give people their props when theyre still here and leave it at that. You dont have to add too the fact that this was rad by claiming it was a freestyle trick.

The interior angle is less than 90 but the bend angle is more than 90. You would describe a straight rail as having no angle (its bend angle). You wouldn’t describe it as having an angle of 180 (its interior angle). Andy’s description was right.

Mathematician here: I get your point but you are incorrect because you forget to take into account the direction of movement. Visualise this for example: When you take a 5 degree turn, this leaves you with a 175 degree angle between your original direction and your new direction. So when you take a 95 degree turn, you are left with a 85 degree angle between your original direction and your new direction. So yeah, more than 90 degrees. (Bunch of nerds commenting on Andys videos lol, love it)

When Rodney invented the dark slide, it was after he had graduated from freestyle to street. He took that mental science and applied it to the streets. Rodney invented too many tricks to classify them all as freestyle

Why don’t you use less grip or a diff grip cut on top with wax on the wood part for dark sides and stickier shoes since it’s a one off type trick?
