It wouldn't even make sense to touch on Skyler's story in this movie because the movie takes place directly after Breaking Bad. Maybe 24 hours after Walt last saw Skyler. The most that is happening is she's probably talking to the police. Also, this is Jesse's story. He had zero connection with Skyler. He only met her twice. And he's never met Walter jr. Everyone that mattered to Jesse was in this.
@bobizzle16055 жыл бұрын
I honestly hated that the writers never found a way for Jesse and Walt jr to meet. It would have been an interesting and awkward dynamic in the show: the son of Walter white, meeting the son of Heisenberg.
@alazkaalazka60874 жыл бұрын
Joshua Bobo I thought it would’ve been cool for Walt Jr to find out about Heisenberg and to be okay with it do to him understanding his fathers consequences. What if even he even eventually wanted to help Walt & him & Jessie form a friendly rivalry.
@BareBandSubscription3 жыл бұрын
@@bobizzle1605 I think it was necessary to leave that relationship unresolved. The idea of Walt making amends with his whole family just cheats whatever punishment he received in “Ozymandias” and “Granite State”. What makes the finale work so well is that it provides immense satisfaction and closure without giving Walt a happy ending. He achieves a series of small victories or reconciliations, and then he dies. To have him have some kind of meeting with Jr. would have been too much, and it could have only reasonably led to Jr. calling the police, with how much he resents his dad now (keep in mind that as far as he knows, Walt killed Hank).

For the people wondering when the flashbacks take place: - The flashback with Walt takes place in the episode '4 days out' in season 2, after Walt manages to build a makeshift battery to get the RV out of the desert. - The one with Mike takes place in the episode 'Buyout' in season 5, right before Mike and Jesse announce to Walt that they are both retiring - The flashbacks involving Todd and the nazis take place between 'Granite state' and 'Felina' in season 5, they take place after Andrea's death, which is why they hired that wild west shootout guy to reinforce the structure of the lab

Since they said they would stop at a motel and get seperate rooms after the job and they were also conversing about 1.6 million dollars of meth, which 2 episodes later Gus turns out to be the buyer, also Jesse was talking to Jane on the phone, about 3 episodes before she overdosed.

For me this is not really meant to move forward the plot, it's more of a character piece. It's essentially Jesse having the opposite character arc of the one he had in season 3. It's him slowly realizing that yes there is life after doing being bad. But, this is isn't a redemption story; it's a rebirth story. That's why the Mike, Walter, Jane flashbacks are key. Mike sets up the thesis of the film, the Walt flashback is him reflecting on his former mentor and through him coming to the opposite realization that he did in problem fog and the Jane flashback is him now finally self actualuzing everything he just went through. Sure he can't change what he's done and he has to carry it with him, but from this moment on it dosen't have to be an anchor around his neck that keeps him from making the future better.

Jesse is wearing a white sweater showing a clean start. He's also usually a passenger so he's driving toward a new start with the memories and advice completing his journey. This is best described as an epilogue more than a continuation. Jesse was happy enough to have ventured off with Jane but Walt was steering his life. Walt's determination caused combos death and Jesse's depressed intoxication Jane's collapse and her father's sleep deprived catastrophe. Walt's desire shaped their fates but Jesse's codependent need for a life coach or role model just enabled Walt's desire for leadership and destiny. Also in the hotel Jesse was talking to Jane on the phone this scene was following 4 days out where he left the ignition switch on and killed the battery who;e Walt coughed up blood thinking he was dying. Skinny Pete got lost looking for them and they'd spoken about wanting to go get a hotel and rest up a day to recharge before it all went to shit. Todd is such a sociopath it's honestly a great demonstration of how the condition works. Walt kind of too in many ways but more empathetic. Todd just seems like a kid that his family fucked up early and probably spent most of his life subconsciously mimicking the real emotions he'd see out of a polite need to comfortably fit in to the social environmentd in his upbringing. They'd eventually be a habit that he unknowingly believes as feeling emotion but his ability to not connect killing embarrassment morality loss or sympathy to his career choice of gun toting criminal shows in the awkwardly timed apologies and attempts at being normal. It's still just a worst case version of it but it's a pretty damn good acting for a s5 introduction of a baddy who couldn't be bigger than fring but had 10 episodes to believably rise enough to effect Walt's downfall in a way that justified a satisfactory showdown . Having him and his aweful uncle mirror the humanity left on our main characters was perfect. It's as if they saw what they were becoming and killed them ruthlessly in a way to save what they hadn't yet destroyed through consequence and legacy. Jesses ambiguous fate wasn't necessary to show but it was certainly appreciated to those that just wanted him to finally find some confidence and certainty without stripping away his moral capacity. I love the reaction guys
