Martin's Old Off Grid Log Cabin #16 Daily routine at a Survivalist Type Cabin

This is what goes on at the cabin on a typical day. This is my get-a-way cabin but does not differ from what one would desire as a survivalist or a prepper.

I grew up in MN on a little homestead and was glad to leave in 1977 to more to Oregon. I found your videos and didn't really care for them. And then............... they started to grow on me. Now I look forward to watching them. I feel that you have peace in your life that I wish I had. Thank you. I am 70 years old now and the sand in the bottom of my hour glass is a lot more than in the top. Your peace seems comforting.

Thank you for sharing your video. My favorite childhood memories were spent with my grandparents in our cottage in Higgins Lake, MI. We'd fish for perch, grandpa would clean them on a board atop two burn barrels, and grama would pan fry them. Rustic cottage with log walls and fireplace.

Yes, it is a survivalist cabin, it has wood, a stove and a non-leaky roof with a few creature comforts, enough to live in if need be. Am glad you take care of it to enjoy the wilderness and all it has to offer. Love the shot with you facing the cabin and feeding the birds, so peaceful & natural.

Fasten an old car tire on your chopping block fill it with logs and split away saves all your fingers and it won't fall on the ground so saves your back muscles .enjoy your videos in Gloucester,UK

When I started doing them my plan was to have them to look at when I could no longer get up there. Others have enjoyed them so much that I make an extra effort to get all the special moments on film that I can. I worked with my father in the woods from the time I was 14 years old. At dinner time we would always take the time to hand feed the gray jays. It was just one other thing my father and I shared. I am not sure what happened to all the gray jays here in Nova Scotia and NewBrunswick. Over the past 30 years I seen only one gray jay. They seem to disappear since the department of natural resources sprayed the spruce bud worm. From one woodman to another, I enjoy your videos.

For weather I use a Noah weather radio as most radio stations are pretty sad when it comes to the info I want. I like classic country and and AM 600 from Jamestown, ND comes in very clear all day. At night WBBM out out Chicago lets me hear what is going on near home in IL.

Great video clip.. Oh yes cedar for fire starter i use it a lot and it's one of the best fuels .. I use spruce also but it must be split small .. Fir is one of my favorite fuels to use.. I make feather sticks mostly out of fir , sometimes i feather stick cedar..
