I used to work with Kai here in Ottawa, Canada back in 2007 at the Silver City Theatre. He was super cool guy and everyone loved him at work. He was studying at Algonquin College and working. He had the same style and expressions you see now but not as eccentric. When I saw the Netflix movie about him I was shocked and amazed. I am sad to hear what happened to him. He is a really cool and awesome dude. I wish him all the best.

I honestly know a lot of people very similar. Life has its way with them, victims of circumstance, unprepared for what they're about to confront. I'd bet Kai is, more so than less, telling the truth on what caused him to end up in prison. Edit: this reminded me of a friend in highschool who got into drugs, tried to get sober, lost her mind and tragically ran over a group of people. She was a wonderful person, but her actions led to circumstances out of her control. Now she's in a cell like Kai.

I worked in a prison, you'd be surprised how many lawsuits inmates come up with. There are guys that are maxed out and can't file anymore because they have so many. But once in a while even a blind squirrel finds a nut. There was an old guy that when I dropped his money receipt off it had $970k in his account where he had won a lawsuit. He said make sure no one ever sees the receipts, cause he was worried the gang members would extort him.
