My niece had an extreme phobia of dwarves (nightmares, cold sweats...) There was a convention of that little people group he was talking about in Bklyn and when she got off the subway going to college, the doors closed behind her and she looked up to see the entire platform filled with wee ones and had a huge panic attack and of course not knowing they tried to come to her aid which sent her running and screaming for her life. It's now a holiday tradition to bring that story up at family dinner

We eventually drifted as friends through the years but always respected each other. I recall in kindergarten being like weirdly commended by adults for being friends with my damn friends and being so confused. I was just not born that way. They were cool so we were friends. Period. It just didn’t make sense i was “doing anything good”. Like really, what the fuck? Don’t point it out to the damn kids. Let them be. Once in a blue moon i see chris (the little person) bowling at the local bar in town. Still super chill and always says “whatsup james!” 32 years old and that respect remained from fucking kindergarten. Makes me smile to this day.

My brother lost his leg from the knee down in a wreck. Initially he struggled with depression and self-confidence. It wasn't until he was ready to acknowledge and accept this new challenge that he was able to embrace it. He now has such a posive outlook on life that it is impossible to not be happy when your around him and he is an inspiration to everyone that meets him. The worse thing you can do to a person is ignore them and pretend they don't exist, and that includes the things that make them who they are.
