Wow Theo... you have no idea how rare of a jewel you are. It is so hard to find anyone that is self aware, empathetic, and honorable. In my situation, especially a man; I’m sure if I was a man I’d be saying the opposite. Lol ... However, it amazes me how much emotional intelligence you have been able to obtain through out your life. I am very proud of you. Anyone that listens to you should be extremely grateful you have decided to put yourself out there -- I can’t imagine anyone being effected any other way besides positively - without a doubt. I didn’t expect Theo to actually have the exact video I was looking for from him… the story and advice are so spot on… but for me, after over a year, it’s not just guilt, I feel sad for losing him.. i just knew it wasn’t right and we weren’t growing together, so I couldn’t drag it on.. he also was taken by surprise; even though we’ve clearly been growing apart and our goals weren’t aligning.

Literally just went through this situation myself. Knew it was the right thing to do, so I manned up and told her that I wasn’t ready for a relationship right now, even though I was feeling sort of scared of doing so because of irrational worries that someone better for me wouldn’t come along. But a couple weeks after doing it, I felt so good about it. It just takes time to get through those feelings of guilt, but you have to do the right thing no matter how tough it is in the moment.

Nick Desroches I know your point was he's no hillbilly dumb ass.. but you got me thinking there may be some literal validity to your comment. I remember reading one time about geniuses that often genius's are conceived by "older" fathers.. Theo would certainly fit that criteria.. father 70?.. interesting.. certainly has an awareness of language, observation and sensitivity towards the world around him that is extremely hi level and unique.. very cool cat.. is there any doubt he wouldn't score hi on an IQ test.

omg this is me right now got with current girl back in late 2019 before lock downs things blossomed into a relationship .she was the first woman I ever lived with we had our ups and downs and over the course of the 4 years being together I realized we'd be better off as friends .shes got a good heart and overall a good person just a lot of emotional baggage that she needs to sort out . normally it would be easy to split up with a person for me but this is different .I know when the day comes shes going to be hurt more so than me .I played out all the scenarios in my head which gets me feeling depressed I would like to stay friends with her keep in touch at least .I just feel so bad ive run just about every break up scenario in my head with her and maybe im just over thinking it . ive had other opportunities in the 4 years to get with other girls I didnt take it .the feelings of guilt are just too intense I couldn't do that to her .ive decided that rather face confrontational break up ill leave her a note then slip out unnoticed

Please don't do that. Dont leave it like that. .... also have you tried therapy together? 4 years is a long time. Talking through it will be hard but you have to do it. You said she has too much baggage but you are going to add to it. Maybe you need a break and see how you feel. There's so many people out there that think the grass is greener. Take it from someone who was in a relationship 15 years.

I could never be so selfish and evil that I break up with someone (UNLESS THEY CHEATED) , with all the pain women have caused me from leaving and making me feel worthless, wanting to not even be alive most days, I could never live with myself knowing I made someone feel like that. Plus, why do you think our grandparents have been together for 50+ years ? Because they were not quitters and worked through their relationship issues like adults. They didnt have fake social media making it seem like every other couple has it perfect, when in reality they are struggling too.
