Idk how many ppl say this bit I LOVE the birth of the Sandman scene. It honestly feels like its own separate movie, like a dramatic short film. The music, the feeling, the atmosphere, the fact not a singke word is uttered and you can feel his emotions spiraling: Confusion, regret, hurt, and love. It such a beautiful scene despite only being like 2 minutes.

I literally asked myself that a few years back and came to the conclusion that even though it would have been impactful either way, I personally lean towards the idea of him having it be difficult to pick up the necklace at first. It just makes it even more emotional, and it showcases this Sandmans true motivations.

Bryce Dallas Howard (Gwen) was unknowingly pregnant during Spider-Man 3 & did her own stunts during the crane scene. She even got hit by a desk but was overjoyed to be in a Spider-Man film. Everything was fine in the end though

2:23 Gwen Stacy is actually Peter's first serious girlfriend in the comics, introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #31 (December 1965) where both Peter and Gwen met when Peter started college. Betty Brant would be Peter's first girlfriend but that was more of a teenage romance thing that ended up with them being friends. We do see Peter flirting with Betty a few times in this film, Betty is the girl with the bangs at the Daily Bugle. Peter didn't meet MJ in the comics until he started College after he met Gwen Stacy, MJ was always the girl next door and I think they both went to the same High School but Peter just never noticed her until Aunt May introduced them during Peters early college years. For these films they made Peter and MJ high school friends something the Ultimate Universe comics did as well in 2000 releasing during the time these films were being released. Gwen was also a high school friend and the Ultimate Comics very much focused on Peter in High School so they had to create a pretty close friend group for Peter so naturally they made Peter meet MJ and Gwen in High School rather than College.

Marko didnt kill Uncle Ben on purpose . The first scene they showed where he shot Ben on purpose was just how peter and officers interpreted the situation . Marko's little story at the end when he told peter what happened was what really happened . He didnt mean to shoot Uncle Ben .

There's theories (with a decent amount of evidence to support it) that Bruce Cambell (the announcer in 1 the usher in 2 and the french guy in this one) was going to be Mysterio in Spider-Man 4 if it ever came out after this. But the studio forced Venom into this movie and it didnt preform well so they dropped the chance for 4 to come out

Yeah, Bruce Cambell was meant to be Mysterio in the 4th movie but only to be a small part of it like his appearances in the first 3, I think the Usher, the Announcer and the waiter were all actually the same person who would ultimately turn out to be Mysterio in 4, or i think it would have been left to audience interpretation

Sam Rami had zero plans to add the Black Suit storyline into this film as he didn't have much insight into Venom as a character who was only introduced in 1984 making him 23 years old by the release of this film. Sam Rami simply grew up on the classic Spider-Man characters and personally didn't want to feature a character he didn't really know well enough to do justice. It wasn't until Avi Arad kind of forced Venom into this film by pressuring Rami by saying this is what the fans wanted. So in the end Venom and the Black Suit storyline was put into an already packed film with Harry as Green Goblin and Sandman. This film as a whole in relation to the Black Suit pulls heavily from the 90s Animated Series which kind of re-invented some of the Black Suit origin story by having JJJ's son (Who was going to Marry MJ in Spider-Man 2) go into space on a mission to a planet, blinking on which one. They find the symbiote and bring it back onboard the rocket but it breaks out and starts taking over JJJ's son leading to him losing control and heading to New York City. He then crash's on one of the New York bridges where Spider-Man comes to the rescue, saving them both. The Black Suit gaps onto Peter following him home, Peter falls asleep and then awakens to him wearing a Black Spider-Man suit with a large white logo looking at his reflection in a skyscraper window. The suit also changes his personality as well feeding off his anger. Minus the Space Ship crashing onto New York everything else was featured in this film from the skyscraper shot of Peter looking at his reflection to the symbiote changing his personality an element only introduced in the Animated Series, Peter's personality was never effected in the original 80s comics. The original comics does feature the iconic Church scene of Peter using the bell to weaken the symbiote leading to it landing on Eddie Brock something the Animated Series featured as well. Fun fact though. In Peter's first encounter with Venom, Peter was wearing the Black Suit. After the symbiote was separated from Peter during the bell tower part a character called Black Cat made Peter a fabric version of the Black Suit simply because she thought it was hotter than his classic red and blue suit. So when Peter came across Venom both characters were black and white. Venom in this film though is not the best, visually Venom in the comics is this large hulking monster and not a guy in a Spider-Man outfit like we see with Eddie. Eddie in general in this film is far from his comic book counterpart who's this body building hulk of a man. And plus Venom has his own personality and speaks something we never see in this film, Venom movies do a much better job with Venom as a character.

It’s the dancing. The dancing scenes alone caused laughter and confusion in the theater. I was still fairly young when this came out, and had a second job in a theater. I would find reasons to watch as much of my favorite movies as I could, the managers were laid back and cool as long as everything got done. At any rate, I remember the reactions to this film were definitely very mixed. I saw it with my own two eyes, the singing and dancing scenes seemed to pull a lot of people out of the film. Having said that, I do like the film for the most part. It’s cheesy as hell, but it’s fun to watch. They kinda ruined Venom, but Sandman was really well done IMO.

Sandman aka Flint Marko first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #4 in Septemeber of 1963. Through a freak accident he was granted the ability to turn himself into sand, allowing him to shapeshift, form weapons and making him nigh invulnerable. Exactly! They're pinning him to be this heartless criminal who ran away after committing mu*der. The scene she keeps referring to is, like you said, Peter's imagination, therefore not a fact. He thought about what happened based on the info the police were giving him, but even they didn't know for sure. The scene when Sandman tells his side is the truth. He didn't want to k*ll anybody. She acts like getting multiple jobs is easy, but even then, he still might not make enough money. He did what he thought he had to, to guarantee her surgery. Even though it was illegal, it was easier and quicker. He was holding the gu* and when his partner bumped his arm, his finger hit the trigger. That was an accident. He didn't mean to do it.

IMO Topher Grace as Eddie Brock/Venom has to be the MOST random casting choices since Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr Freeze in Batman & Robin. Even though the casting was weird, I actually LOVE the design of Venom. This Venom gave me an intergalactic ferral beast vibe. The way it shrieks and jumps right at you with those claws and teeth, kinda a creepy venom.Venom. ...Too bad it only had 10 FUCKING MINUTES OF SCREEN TIME!!!

This movie gets mixed reviews some calling it bad and others see it as underrated. I thought it was bad as a kid due to the many plot lines and rushing in Venom but over time I grew to appreciate it for what it is and what Sam Raimi wanted to tell for his story about revenge and forgiveness. Sandman has always been a complex character, balancing from being a villain to sometimes hero. Harry being the second Green Goblin was a thing in the comics and like the movie, he and Peter made amends before he died. Of course his dad, Norman did return and took back the mantle remaining as Peter’s archenemy. Venom origins is pretty close to comic accurate here. The symbiote bonds to Peter but Peter rejects it and bonds to Eddie but Eddie isn’t accurate to how he is in the comics here. Once you’ll get to the Venom films, they’ll show a different side to the character. 😊

Sandman is a good guy. He's just misunderstood because of his mistakes. You make it seem like he's money hungry and will k*ll anyone who gets in his way, and that's not true at all. The scene you keep mentioning is Peter's imagination. He was thinking about how it happened based on the info the police were giving him, but even they didn't know for sure for the past few years. All of it assumptions. Sandman told the truth. When you are nervous and holding a gu* and someone startles you, it's not uncommon for your finger to hit the trigger. He didn't want to k*ll anyone. He felt becoming a crook was the easiest and quickest way. Not everyone can get multiple jobs. And even if he did, there's no guarantee they would pay enough for his daughter's medical bills. Don't dehumanize him for the mistakes he deeply regrets. None of us are perfect or any better than him.

This unfolded much the same way as in the comics... Harry takes up the mantle of the Green Goblin when Norman dies (well, a few years later)... and ends up with the same powers (and insanity). That story was just as tragic in the comics as it was here and over the years, Harry switched sides a couple of times. Later, the character was replaced by the Hobgoblin - a nasty piece of work that used much of the same technologies as the Green Goblin - and became one of Spiderman's greatest foes... and there was a huge mystery for a long time who was under the Hobgoblin's hood.... but that is a story for another time

Fun trivia: the French maitre De from the restaurant, the usher from the theater, and the wrestling ring announcer were all played by Bruce Campbell. He is an old friend of the director, Sam Raimi, and they worked together on the Evil Dead horror franchise. You will see another Bruce Campbell cameo in Sam Raimi's next Marvel movie; Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Another fun fact is that Bruce Campbell hosted the tutorial mode on the Spider-Man 2 movie game on Playstation 2 and XBOX.

Yeah the goblin serum basically make you a super soldier. I'd put Norman around Steve Rogers and Bucky strength, but since he's a lunatic he'd be way more dangerous. Harry would be , IMO, physically weaker, and not just because he lacks the level of insanity, but because it's just a weaker serum, I mean, he IS crazy, but nowhere near as nuts as Norman. The original serum made everyone crazy, so the new serum was a trade-off.

I would recommend you watch the X-Men films (including the Deadpool films) in the order they were released next, then the Amazing Spider-Man films, then start your journey into Phase 4 of the MCU. Originally Spiderman 3 planned to have 2 villains but somebody in Sony wants Venom to be inserted and they have to alter the script and it made less in the box office (probably due to so much plot not enough time) so Sony decide to cut it here. There's even sketch of future villains that would came out for future Toby Spiderman movie but... Anyway let's continue on to Andrew Spiderman A.K.A. the cool Spiderman. And Spidey always depicted as sad nerd what made Andrew's version of cool spiderman (a bit of a jerk sometimes) became less favorite by audience.. Which is not true btw. Spiderman is a cool but nerdy kid. I mean look at all the harem Pete has.. MJ, Gwen, Felicia, Miss Brent, Cindy Moon, just to name a few... Anyways have a nice watch guys.

I'd say you should go in chronological order for the rest of the Marvel movies. If you do that, you'd start with "Blade" (the first movie of that trilogy), and then do the first "X-Men" movie. The Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies are maybe not the absolute best of the Marvel movies, but they're excellent. There's something special about them, and I'd say it's the iconic movie Spider-Man. Which reminds me. When you do your tour of the Marvel Universe outside of the MCU, be sure to add in the 2018 animated "Into the Spider-Verse." It's surprisingly good.

The internet changed his name to Bully Maguire and they've put him in all sorts of movies and different scenes... he's been parodied sooo much. If they didn't put it in the movies, it would just be weird at this point. :P 28:15 - that's Bruce Campbell from the Evil Dead movies. Bruce has been in every single Sam Raimi movie now (Sam did the original Evil Dead movies and he did these ones). He's always popping up as some random character. So yeh, definitely same guy. Bruce is even in the second Dr Strange movie which Sam directed as well. I really love Bruce as an actor...he's funny :) So glad you guys are loving the Spiderman series.
