Chris thank you as always for taking the time to try out all of the industry's lever gun parts out there for sale. We can't "win them all" but we're always pleased when real shooters are pleased with what we're designing and manufacturing quality parts in Texas everyday to give our customers DIY performance parts and tons of choices. 😎👊 Lots more to come!

In Brazil, the gun market is taking off (if President Bolsonaro wins second-period elections it will go higher and higher). CBC/Magtech will put new models on the market. There is a crescent market for hogs hunter. Here levers are normally Winchester-based (R92). If you think to expand your product and your market share, research this market and think about it. Thank you.

This all just piss’s me off to umpteenth, only because I’m 60+ (😜) yrs old and been a lever guy since day one, I’ld take a lever over an automatic every time. I just wished that all this stuff came out 30 or 40 years ago so I could’ve enjoyed it more, don’t know how many years I have left, but it ain’t enough. Watch all your lever videos when ever I find them, keep them coming. Thanks and God Bless Texas 🤙🏼❤️🇺🇸🤠

You nailed it for me. I came into the community focused on ARs and polymer wonder 9s. After building and acquiring every variant I’ve branched out and grown an appreciation for the classics; revolvers, 1911s/2011s, and lever actions.

Thank you for putting out this type of content. I’ve been learning from you and others like you for years now. Again. Thank you. From the perspective of a guy who has never been a lever gun guy, I will say what makes it so appealing to me is how astoundingly simple they are to suppress. You don’t have to mess with gas port sizing, adjustable gas blocks, internal piston(gas in the face), external piston(front heavy guns) or even QD muzzle devices and having to balance all these things with load selection and other parts for managing recoil. They will just effin run. Like a damned analog cell phone. Thank again for the info.

If you don't like chasing brass, don't forget that break action rifles are just as easy to suppress and present the brass for you when you're done shooting. One of my favorite guns is a 12" Encore chambered in 357mag and threaded for a can that is properly throated to take heavy bullets. It has shot well with 310gr bullets right at the sound barrier and 245gr bullets up to 1400fps.

I feel like a big feature that these modified leverguns are missing is extended mag tubes. I run steel matches with a 16" 44 mag that has a 20" tube. 11+1 of spl, 10+1 of mag

I could see that potentially interfering with a suppressor. But if you're shooting with just a break then that would be a great choice.

I'm a huge fan of suppressors, I'm also I huge small game hunting fan. I really wish Henry or any manufacturer offered a side loading option for the rimfire models. It would allow us as users to keep the standard tube length while allowing a suppressor on a shorter barrel length.

My opinion on the recent "tacticalizing" of lever/bolt action guns, as a gun owner from an European country. In most of the EU countries the laws surrounding guns are much less liberal (in the original sense of the word) as in most states in the US. There are lots of countries where you have to work your ass off (unless you are a millionaire) to keep any firearm that you want - even if you are suitable according to the law -, because the laws/regulations are constructed to make gun ownership as hard to get privilege as possible. Believe me. I could write pages about the laws and regulations in my own country, but here I bring up just an example, that connects to the topic. There is a form of gun ownership in my country, that is called "hunter's firearms licence". That allows you to own only hunting firearms (what a hunting firearm is, is enshrined in law), use them only on hunts and only on the range - as long as your license is valid. You need to renew your license every year - not for the privilege to hunt, you have to annually renew the licence to keep your privilege even to own your firearms. If you fail this, your firearms will be confiscated and you become a felon. Oh, and you have to store your firearms cleared and separated from ammo in a gun cabinet - and the local police has the right to annually check your gun cabinet in your home. According to the law, every hunting firearm must have a minimum barrel length of 45 cm (around 18 inches), must be single shot or repeater with no magazine constrains, semi-auto or auto shotguns have to hold maximum 2 rounds/shells in the magazine, moreover semi-auto rifles, sound suppressors and handguns in general are straight forbidden, and the rifles must have meet some muzzle-energy standards for big-game hunting. To own a semi-auto rifle or a handgun you have to engage in another form of gun ownership "sport shooter's firearms license". That needs a membership in a shooting club (money), annual mandatory psychological and medical examination (money), mandatory participation in official formal shooting matches (more money), etc. And in the end you may have a cool semi-auto rifle or a handgun, but according to the law it must be stored in a gun cabinet, cleared and separated from ammo in an extra lockable container or drawer - so useless in a home defense situation. A big and expensive hassle for nothing. So lots of folks with hunting licenses - like me - have zero intention in engaging with sport shooting and semi-autos. But we are eager for the modern sporting rifle experience and modularity. And here is the point of my lenghty comment. With the advent of "tacticalizing" and modularizing these lever-action and bolt-action rifles, we are able to own some kind of modern(-ish), practical and modular platforms, that are fun to shoot, that we can tinker around with the sights, lights, scopes etc. without being a gunsmith. I think that lots of folks in the US have zero knowledge about how big a deal these kind of changes in gun "fashion" can be in other parts of the world. For you this is just something new and cool and different after you got a bit bored with your countless AR's and other semi-autos, but for us in the less liberal (in terms of gun ownership and in the original meaning of the word) parts of the globe this kind of things may be real gamechangers.

great stuff 👍 the witt machine mod 1 .45 is very impressive on my 45-70 ( got one of the left overs from the Dallas shoot ) . with trail boss being scarce and my supply running low i tried some power pistol and got much better accuracy with a 405gr hard cast pill . (11.4gr for 1049 fps doing 1" at 50 yards ) i have also enjoyed the hell out of putting RPP stuff on all of my Henry lever guns ( trigger kit should be delivered soon ) . from my h001 that was custom threaded , my 357 and .44mag x to my brass 45-70 with a custom brass sleeve over the mod 1 . i have had LOTS more fun with the lever guns than i thought i would . AND they suppress so freaking well 😁

Nice video. I was waiting forever for the color case hardened octagon barreled .357 Henry. I could never find one other than resellers for premium prices. When the Big Boy X came out I decided to jump on it since it had the threaded barrel I wouldn’t get with the octagon. I love it!! The trigger could use some smoothing out and lightening though. I put my Rugged 45 can on it and it shoots both .357 and 38sp like a dream. But now that I see you can get the octagon barrel threaded, I’m going to start searching for another case hardened one again!

My Henry doesn't consistently cycle .38 Special. I'm thinking it's because the shorter casing but it may be the steel casing ammo I tried in it? .357 Magnum doesn't seem to have any issues. Sadly I haven't taken the time to experiment with different ammo. Only been to the range with the Henry twice since I bought it last year. Only ran through 200 rounds so far. Love the rifle and the action but I've been juggling other guns and don't often find the time to go to the rifle range. Great video. Lever actions are very cool and with a pistol caliber inside of 100 yards the Henry makes me look like I know how to hit my target.

I think you literally hit the nail on the head. I have AR15s in every length possible with scopes, red dots, etc., and multiple 9mm PCCs and thought how many of these do I want and/or need? I just bought a Marlin Trapper in 45-70 and put an XS Sights Rail on it with a 1.5-4x28 Leuopold along with a MI handguard. Only thing is I don't have a suppressor that will work with the 45-70 but I wanted that big boy caliber. lol I've been eyeing the Henry case hardened 357 octagonal barrel next. That thing is just beautiful but I'd have to get it threaded like you did for a suppressor. I also like what RPP is doing in the lever action world and will probably buy their handguards and stocks for my future lever action. Great stuff!

I think the attraction to lever guns is partially the practical functionality. AR pattern guns are kind of high maintenance and have problems in a long term SHTF scenario unless you buy a bunch of spare parts. Bolt action medium-large caliber rifles are very low maintenance, but kind of slow on follow-up shots. Lever action rifles are still pretty low maintenance, but follow-up shots are pretty quick, and they come in a few large-ish pistol calibers and some medium rifle calibers and also some very heavy big game rifle rounds. So they are very good for long term, low maintenance, very effective home defense and can take on some extra tasks like hunting if necessary.

What do you think about the Henry long ranger for self defense cause it has a detachable magazine?

@@TheofficialCostaludus I see, but what if you would like to set up a lever gun for self defense for fun? Would the long ranger then be a good choice?
@mkshffr4936
@mkshffr4936 2 жыл бұрын
You could use a long ranger for a defense gun but IMO. A tube mag rifle in revolver cartridges is a better option. The capacity is larger and it is easier to top up. For the detachable mag you would need to have several spare magazines to make up for having to take it out of action to reload every 5 shots. For the tubular Henries with side gate you still have the option of loading from the muzzle end. You can top up from the gate but you can also make up some inexpensive speed loaders from clear plastic tubing for a quick fill from the front. The long tube could be a bit awkward but certainly doable.

Seeing as how Chris loves using these for home defense it’d be safe to assume that he’d rather have 3-4x the round count.
