Brother, God bless you richly for this incredible service. I have lost everything, my original name was changed, I lost my language, etc but not my blood. I am so glad that today every sister and brother is identified as 'Rwandan'. Today was the first day I took courage to start learning my mother's language-Kinyarwanda. I visited my country, Rwanda this December 2019 after 20 years, I could not hold tears of joy, one Immigration Officer at Kigali International Airport held my Foreign Passport and found a different Citizenship in it and he quickly greeted me 'Muraho' I was lost. He went into saying 'Uvuyehe'? I just said Brisbane. The Officer knew that I was one of them though I could not speak the language. I have decided to learn my language and I believe one day I will be able to speak. Luckly my mother and my father speaks Kinyarwanda. Please prepare more lessons for learners like me . Murakoze.

ooh that is a very heartwarming story. Your rwandan identity is your and will always be. Take advantage of your father and mother kinyarwanda, ask them a lot. It is not easy to hear, but it is 1000% worth it. Once my gym business takes off, I will focus on the language course again!

This is brilliant, thank you for these videos. I'm currently looking into Rwandan literature, and whilst the particular texts I'm reading are in French, the author references Kinyarwanda phrases enough to make me want to learn at least some of this beautiful language as well.

That's a great job bro!!! Actually the most difference between formal and informal greetings is the starting word. For formal, we begin with 'Mu'. For example Muraho ? ( Hello) or Mumeze neza? ( Are you alright ?). But for informal greetings we just begin with U. For example uraho? Uraho neza? This 'neza' means good, and it's added just to emphasize your feelings. The other thing showing formal and informal greetings is the ending word. For example: Amakuru ?? This means how are you ??? You can say it just like this or you can add some other words. Example: Amakuru yawe? This is informal because 'yawe' means you in informal situation . Amakuru yanyu ?? This 'yanyu' means you but in formal situation .

Thank you so much for uploading these, Theo! :-) I am from India, my father has been working in Kigali for over a year now, and always says such amazing things about the country and its people - how Kigali is beautiful and extremely neat and tidy, how warm and welcoming the people have been to him, and how beautiful the countryside is once you drive outside of Kigali. I hope to visit him in Rwanda soon and explore for myself, and I'll make sure I know at least some Kinyarwanda before then.

"Yesu akuzwe" must be said "Yes'akuzwe" without pronouncing the letter "u". There is another greeting in kinyarwanda: "amashyo" and you respond "amashyongore." This one is mostly used by the old people and means to wish you a lot of cows(riches).
