I like the movie interpretation of the vogon ships. Representing adam's description of "they hung in the sky in much the same way bricks dont"

One of the few things that the movie did well. The only minor nitpick I have with the design is that it’s not yellow.
@gemstonegynoid74752 жыл бұрын
@@TheCoolEevee reread the books recently. Indeed they should've been yellow.

They went unnoticed at Goonhilly, they passed over Cape Canaveral without a blip, and Woomera and Jodrell Bank looked straight through them… which was a pity, because it was the sort of thing they’d been looking for all these years.

I like how the fact that all screens on the planet broadcasted the Vogon message is implied in our screen switching to the broadcast as well.

Beautiful, everything in this just perfect. Even the yellow ship that look exactly like the book describes!
@Shadowkey3925 жыл бұрын
Actually the book never described the Vogon Constructor ships as saucers, that was the radio and TV series.
@SpikeInfinity5 жыл бұрын
The book describes them as huge, yellow, chunky and slab like. The TV show has them looking exactly like this, which makes the line Ford says about them being a fleet of flying *saucers* all the more odd. He was probably just describing them in generic Earth terms for Arthur's benefit.

The explosion was over dramatized. Part of the comedic factor in the movie was just how sad and uneventful looking the destruction of earth was. Other than that beautiful animation
@roguishpaladin4 жыл бұрын
Bear in mind that the animation is set to the previously-existing radio show. An uneventful destruction of Earth would come off as silence, which would leave the listener scratching their head as to what just happened. Different media require different approaches, something that Douglas Adams recognized very well when he adapted the radio show as a book and as a TV show.

The understated jokes that just go on in the background of the series are hilarious to me, like that Zaford signing the destruction order for Earth to create the express lane while the heart of gold is being made that makes hyperspace entirely obsolete so the destruction really wasn't needed. But the planning had been done, the papers filed, the permissions granted, what were they supposed to do, just ignore all that because a better way of doing things just came along?

Brilliant as usual. But one of the things I have to give the movie version, bad as it was, is the destruction earth being understated and blinked out of existence. Very in keeping with the existentialist themes of the radio drama and books. All the same, great realisation of the radio drama.

Hey. In case you do come back, I think you should do an animation segment on the chapter where Beeblebrox is in a broken down Heart of Gold in the dark and hears an intruder and turns out to be a broken Marvin. I forgot which book it was and I'm hoping there won't be a copyright strike against it. It would be pretty cool though. I've also made this playlist called "Adult Swim Material". It's not really what it seems, but it's a bit of my vision of a collection of videos that have the Adult Swim vibe. I included your HHGTTG animations just to get this feel. They're awesome and worthy of the playlist. Hope you come back one day
