Fun fact: Because supercomputer time was so expensive, some biologists decided to make a 'game' out of protein folding galled 'FoldIt'. You got points based on the actual physical parameters by which a protein folds - making it smaller, putting charged groups near each other and neutral groups near each other. This... would actually be so awesome if each organ's shape, the shape of blood cells, the function of skin cells, the function of white blood cells, and all that could be changed. Want to have a character that can run faster, has more stamina, and replenishes stamina fast? Smaller, curvier and more slippery red blood cells with large surface areas, bigger heart, thicker arteries, boom. Want to have your character survive with massive blood loss? Set up multiple circulatory systems for different limbs, maybe smaller ones designed to satisfy specific organs, maybe even make them able to transfer blood between each other after battle to enable repairs? This could be literally the game mechanic of the fucking century. In fact, I think I'll go throw together a shitty text based proof of concept in C++ right now.
