True! Anyways Covid is marking the beggining of the bad things - for me startet even one year before, after years of battling hard the illnes took over my every day-sorry just felt to write it, but indeed, hope I got chance to play some nice golf courses (in south-central Europe we don't have many)

I played Royal Portrush two years before the Open was there. It's a beautiful course, and the people of Portrush, and indeed, everyone we met in Northern Ireland, were warm, welcoming, and wonderful. As they overcome decades of trouble, I'd suggest any golfer headed to the British Isles to play golf in Northern Ireland, and support the people there.
@msalzberg49623 жыл бұрын
@Game On Of the 15 different courses we played in 12 days in Ireland (Republic and Northern), including the K Club and Portrush, my absolute favorite course was The European Club, in Brittas Bay, just 1 hours south of Dublin. And yes, not the British Isles. Sorry, that's just bad American geography.
@msalzberg49623 жыл бұрын
@Game On Lucky you! I didn't shoot nearly that well. I loved the course; more than most links courses, it is unique. So many, and I don't mean to disparage them, are so similar that I couldn't tell you one from another. European Club is so quirky and fun.
@msalzberg49623 жыл бұрын
@Game On In July 2017 we played Galway Bay, Carne (including the closed 9 holes), Enniscrone, Lough Erne (Faldo Course), Portmarnock, Portstewart, Royal Portrush (Dunluce), Strandhill, K Club (Palmer Course), The European Club, The Island Club, Ardglass, Corballis, Castle Rock, County Sligo (Rosses Point). In 12 days. Golf heaven. We also had perfect weather. A couple of rounds with a wee mist, and one 5 minute soaking. Other than that, warm and sunny. And the people made it even better.
@msalzberg49623 жыл бұрын
@Game On As I said, I didn't mean to disparage Irish courses. I loved every one I played, and can't wait to get back to play more. Maybe because we played so many in a row, they began to blur in my mind. It's one reason The European Club really stuck out - it is so quirky. When I'm coming back, I'll reach out to you, and you can show me some of the other great courses (there must be at least a dozen near Dublin). If you ever get to NY, let me know; we'll head out to my local club - Bethpage. We'll play the Black.

31:41 Found the Packers Fan. On a more related note, this Open kind of transcended the sport, didn't it? Outside of maybe Tiger's 2000 US Open, I can't think of a more compelling blowout in golf history. (Well, blowout after that dicey first hole on Sunday at least.) Especially amazing since Shane had missed the cut and fired his caddie in the 2018 Open.
