That putt from Seve on the 18th followed by his joyous celebration is iconic. Brilliant to watch.

That must have been Trevino cheering on his opponent with “touch of class, baby” and “bueno, Seve” when Ballesteros hit that 2nd shot to the 5th in 1984. Two great competitors.

It was Lee, I remember him playing with Seve that day. And yeah, 2 great players. Cheers

The percent of these shots I actually remember watching was quite surprising. So many fantastic memories. R.I.P. Seve. ❤️

I remember so many of these! Seve was so much fun to watch and easy to root for! But I have to admit the broadcast announcing seemed so benign for most of the shots. Ben Wright ( RIP in 2021) was a proper and traditional analyst, but couldn’t raise the level of excitement in the way many broadcasters do today. Thanks for sharing the shots by these great players and I hope this week’s Open will provide new content to add to the best of all time!

You have to remember Rocca's disastrous previous shot to realize just how good that putt was. Best of the bunch - hands down.

Absolutely. & the steaming pile you see BBC spend (waste) millions on instead of this is criminal.

Michael Campbell’s bunker shot was a trifle lucky, and he admitted as such. It hit the face of the bunker as it came out which popped it straight up in the air, allowing it to land on the top and roll down to the hole. That’s why he was smiling and chuckling to his caddie and playing partner. Still a great escape though!

Trying playing it in the wind. It’s not easy. And, look who has won there. Jack in 1970 and 1978. Seve beating Tom in 1984. Tiger in 2000 and 2005. The best at their best.
@sandersson28132 жыл бұрын
@@dave55ides I play it almost every week mate. Its fun, but its not Major standard, and certainly not every 5 years. There has never been an interesting Open at St Andrews that isba result of the course. Only interest was when Rocca fluffed his chip.

@@dalemartell8639 Bryson and tje long hitters could be driving 1, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 16 and 18. The Old Course could seriously get its pants pulled down this year if it isnt windy.

@@sandersson2813 Well fair enough - haven’t played there since spring 1990 (when it was windy). And there are a ton of great courses from which to choose in Fife, particularly early on summer mornings when you could get in 9 holes at Lundin Links and then go to work at Methil by 8am.
