It’s been a funny spring. I’ve already harvested Asian greens but I can’t get parsnip to germinate. Beans are up, potatoes and tomatoes doing well. Lots of lettuce at the moment. Every year is different.

It has been a dry spring, with fewer fogged in days than is usual. My lettuce and carrot seedlings have been disappearing, usually overnight. Rabbits? So I replanted and covered everything with hoops. 🐇

More likely slugs, they are very industrious!

Spinach germinated here but we’ve had a really rainy Spring with lots of slugs. Very hard to keep up with. They don’t seem to prefer black seeded simpson lettuce.

Have you tried putting a thin layer of straw/hay over the dirt to trap moisture? I'm trying this year, and it's working well.

I have had to resow so much this year due to weather and just being too early. And I'm in beautiful Central Coast California

@@TheOptimisticGardener for sure, this is my first full year urban garden this year. I got started last summer when I bought my home. It's tiny but packed. Ill make a video and show you, send you a link. I'm growing a variety of flat pole beans called Hawaiian Wonder. Very prolific. Second year now, from seed from last year. Cucumbers, chilies and peppers, Japanese pumpkin, patty pan, herbs, many greens and herbs, just retired kale. Hope 2024 is bountiful for you, in beautiful Nova Scotia
