LYRICS
It's never enough to say I'm sorry
It's never enough to say I care
But I'm caught between what you wanted from me
And knowing that if I give that to you
I might just disappear
Nobody wins when everyone's losing
It's like one step forward and two steps back
No matter what I do you're always mad
And I, I can't change your mind
I know it's like trying to turn around on a one way street
I can't give you what you want
And it's killing me
And I, I'm starting to see
Maybe we're not meant to be
It's never enough to say I love you
No, it's never enough to say I try
It's hard to believe
That's theres no way out for you and me
And it seems to be the story of our lives
Nobody wins when everyone's losing
There's still time to turn this around
You could be building this up instead of tearing it down
But I keep thinking
Maybe it's too late
It's like one step forward and two steps back
No matter what I do you're always mad
And I, baby I'm sorry to see
Maybe we're not meant to be

My younger brother committed suicide last weekend by overdosing on something. He was found with headphones on, presumably listening to something. This is his youtube account. He made a playlist containing 6 songs that was edited the day he passed. This is one of the 6 songs. With the method he used, he was dead after about 30 minutes, probably unconscious around 12 minutes. I like to think that it was peaceful for him with his music on. I love you Myles, I'll miss you everyday for the rest of my life.

I'm so sorry for your loss! It says this was posted a year ago, but I wanted to reach out anyway. They say " time heals everything" but I find that to be untrue... time just makes it easier to cope, because you have time to find out the different ways to make it easier for you. 1 year later , I know for a fact, is still so hard! My sister passed a couple years ago, my mother passed this June, and it's been a tough road, so I know how you feel. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here

Can we all just agree that Theory of a Deadman is one of the most underrated rock bands? However, they had beautiful songs, and this is my favorite

Yes this Rock band is truely heavily underrated like many other modern Rock bands of the 2000's I only discovered them by pure luck, because I found out that a girl who I liked back then listened to this band (she mentioned them in her Twitter profile), that's how I discovered this band in the first place. So I consider myself very lucky to even discover this band that way... or else I would never have found them at all... I still listen to their songs in 2022, more than 15 years later... and will always continue to do so in the future... this band influienced my young adulthood life, together with many other Rock and Metal bands from the 2000's era. TOAD is a good mix of some Southern Rock/Country, Hard Rock, modern Alternative Rock with Post-Grunge and heavy emotional feelings.

Don't matter what people say, the alternative rock and post-grunge ballads are truly amazing songs, dispite of the intention of selling. And this song is one or the greatest rock ballads I ever heard. I think this is the best song of Theory of a Deadman Reminds me when I was in love with my best girlfriend. I give her everything, but she never pay attention to me. This song reminds me so much of her. And even we still been friends and I have a new love still crying to this song.

I don’t care what anyone says… I agree. This is one of the top rock ballads ever created. 2003 ish to 2010 were the golden years of post-grunge alt rock bands, period. I know they started in the late 90s but the ones who started a little later like this one were even better.

I really like this video. I think the old saying "music can speak to you" really applies here. At it's core, the song is about acceptance, which can be a hard thing to grasp. I especially like how, at the beginning, they appear to be fighting in the house, whereas near the end, they're hugging. When I saw the window curtains rise up, it reminded me of bed sheets and the comfort they can bring, which I felt symbolized the comfort one finds in acceptance. Aside from that, I love the song. I rate them both a 9/10, but that's my personal taste/opinion.

this song matches my last relationship perfectly. she was an emotional vampire no matter what I did it wasn't good enough for her. there was always something she wanted from me that i couldn't give to her. whenever she texts me I out this song on to remind myself not to respond

LYRICS It's never enough to say I'm sorry It's never enough to say I care But I'm caught between what you wanted from me And knowing if I give that to ya I might just disappear Nobody wins when everyone's losing It's like one step forward and two steps back No matter what I do you're always mad, and I, I can't change your mind It's like trying to turn around on a one-way street I can't give you what you want and it's killing me And I, I'm starting to see Maybe we're not meant to be It's never enough to say "I love you" No, it's never enough to say I try It's hard to believe that there's no way out for you and me It seems to be the story of our life Nobody wins when everyone's losing It's like one step forward and two steps back No matter what I do you're always mad, and I, I can't change your mind It's like trying to turn around on a one way street I can't give you what you want and it's killing me And I, I'm starting to see Maybe we're not meant to be There's still time to turn this around Should we be building this up instead of tearing it down? But I keep thinking maybe it's too late It's like one step forward and two steps back No matter what I do you're always mad, and I, I can't change your mind It's like trying to turn around on a one-way street I can't give you what you want and it's killing me And I, I finally see Baby we're not meant to be It's like one step forward and two steps back No matter what I do you're always mad, and I Baby I'm sorry to see Maybe we're not meant to be

Anyone can interpret this song and compare it to a relationship, but I resonate with it because it reminds me of the Toxic relationship I have with my Mother. I’ve spent all my life trying to please her but I’m never enough for her. I’m turning 24 soon and I believe it’s time to do something for myself , I will always be thankful for having a mother but i wish she would understand that i was meant for so much more than what she thinks of me.

Honestly a sad song. Yet very true. Last relationship I had was, well it seemed like it was, perfect. Seemed we both gave everything to be with each other and in the end, the past always wins. I don't understand why people can't leave their exes in the past. The present is what matters, not the past. Found this song to describe basically all the emotions I felt during the breakup, and still do.

When I was in high school I loved this song. My fiancé left me a week ago and somehow I stumbled across this song and this shit means so much more. The crazy thing is I relate to every word 100% i really am starting to see that it's no one's fault there's just too much going on that showed me maybe really not meant to be.
