In all my hundreds of outdoor/backpacking/camping purchases, OneTigris is _easily_ the best quality of gear for reasonable prices. I've got top end stuff, and low end stuff, and tried a million different brands in the middle to try to find decent quality in that medium price range, and OneTigris is the only low/mid-price gear maker I've found that really lives up to the quality of my higher end gear. I've got this tent as well as a couple tarps from them and they're all excellent quality at less than half the price of some of the bigger named manufacturers.

It's a modernized Baker tent, one of the oldest and most successful tent designs of the 19th (yes, 1800's) century.

Great tent for the money. If I'm not using my hammock, this is my "go to" tent. Setting it up in porch mode and sitting underneath in a light rain is awesome.

Ya know having a tarp along is always a good idea. Tent under a tarp? If needed sure. Tent damage mitigation yes. Extra foul weather yes. Just be sure to keep cordage and stakes for it with it.

I just had the pleasure of using this tent on Kentucky Lake for a week. Two nights of rain led to water wicking through the seam tape via the tiebacks for the awning and bug screen, and the hook for a light. Not a bad leak by any means, just a small trickle of a few drops over the 2 days of rain. Not a deal breaker by any means. A little seam grip will clear this problem right up. Overall, I am very pleased with the tent. I had no problem with condensation, but since I was car camping I was able to carry a small battery operated fan to circulate some air. Thanks for the review, Luke. It was a major contribution to my decision to grab this tent. Edit: I had no issue with a smell as it dried. In addition, I purchased my tent in late July 2020 and it came with 14 stakes, not the 10 that you received. So perhaps they listened to your concerns. If you are looking to use this to stealth camp, be aware that the guy lines are HIGHLY reflective and very noticeable at night with just a small amount of light.

I've used mine 4 times so far and it has been very, very nice. Once in the backyard for 3 days of moderate to heavy rain, and it stayed dry. I had the awning and back flap open and it was cool out, so the condensation was not aggressive. On various camping trips it has been comfortable and spacious for me and my gear, still no water issues. Staking out the tent is tedious, but works well. I have typically used trees to tension the back wall and sides, so the number of stakes has been adequate (although mine included 12 stakes, not 10). If you have the option a ridge line works fairly well for the peak of the tent. 9 out of 10 rating from me so far.

I'm glad you liked this tent. I bought the first version at the lower price and just added Walmart aluminum tent pegs, Scotch waterproofing, & extra rope. I bought it for my bug out/get home bag giving my original Walmart tent to my grandkids for their bags, that is after I did some essential work to them. So thank you Luke, I appreciate your show, and have been an avid watcher for quite some time.

As for the price: extremely reasonable in my opinion. In reference to the awning when its raining, why not stake both the left & right sides with shorter sticks/poles and then put a taller one in the middle so that rain slides off to either side and ventilation stays good?? Just my 2 cents....

Or you could even just put one corner of the awning lower and achieve a similar result while leaving it more open/less complicated and without wear and tear on the awning.

I got this tent (the newer 2.0) in early spring and set it up in my backwoods. It made it through a serious rain with flying colors. This thing does everything I want. I'm Inside AND Outside... at the same time. Stayin dry AND making faces at the bugs! The 'Porch cover' really makes this work. True.. not the fastest set up... but that's part of the fun of camping. 🌳⛺🌲 For the money it's hard to beat.

Watch those cows. My family has a thousand acres in north Louisiana. Much of it is woodlands. We have quarter horse that have free range of the place. My first night with this tent didn't go real well. The horses were curious and got tangled in the stakeouts and tore two tie-offs loose. I was able to fix the holes with duct tape and added tent tarp clamps to replace the ruined attachments. All in all I like the tent and have been unable to find anything I liked better that was cheaper. Thanks for the hints to minimize the condensation problem.

Yep just got this , love the design but think it could do with 1 or 2 more hoops on the ridge line , also when pegging out the back it seems to hold the rain in a little puddle , maybe I pitched it wrong , guidelines also need to be more visible big time , great size as you said like a 1 man palace lol, Ps hello from Ireland lol ☘️☘️☘️

I've had my OneTigris Bungalow 2.0 for several months and used it twice while overland camping and once in my backyard where I test gear before taking it out in the field. In a heavy rain it performed so well even with the awning up. I used a slightly longer pole to support the awning's center so water wouldn't pool. I was able to sit in my camp chair and make dinner without getting wet. I use trekking poles and a tent pole set of two by Green Elephant. I did add six MSR Groundhog tent stakes. Since I use it for overland camping I bought a single wide Intex air mattress which is super comfortable. If the ground is super cold I put a wool blanket on top of the air mattress and use a zero degree sleeping bag.

Man I would have loved the "perfect tent" back in the day. 😢 In all my years on the trail I never found a better tent FOR ME than the Eureka Apex 2XT. Ordered DAC poles from manufacturer, used MRS stakes, and had no issues, even in torrential rain and decent amounts of snow.

I have had this tent for 3 years now. I started out with a cheapo $40 4 person dome tent that liked to blow over. Recieved a Coleman sundome 2 tent for christmas as a replacement. It was still very heavy. I bought the Backwoods Bungalo to reduce weight and have a more sturdy tent. Grew up using canvas baker leanto tents so this was very familiar. It is a great tent. I usually use a ridgeline to set it up. I also picked up a pair of USGI shelter half poles to hold the awning up. The only problems I have had is the condensation which isn't horrible. The biggest problem is that, on mine at least, the vent in the back is not seam sealed and water leaks in. It isn't a deal breaker, I just put a handkerchief at the worst spot and it stays pretty dry. Just had it out for a weeklong kayak camping trip and it performed great, even with 15+mph winds and driving rain. It is a great tent.

I love mine. It hasn't been in the rain; but I've had it in about 20F and I stayed quite comfortable. The set up is very easy, but the part about not enough stakes baffles me. I had to buy more. It's bulky as a backpacker, and a little heavy for that, but for a short trek or just camping it's fantastic. Thanks for your reviews.

btw this tent will compress easily into a 10L Sea to Summit eVent (cylindrical) or Sealline Blocker (rectangular) compression sack, I even got it into a 5L Sealline but that one took a lot of effort it is quite something to have a tent w/ stakes taking up similar space in a pack as a compressed sleeping bag

Luke, I cannot thank you enough for presenting this incredible tent. I bought mine the very day I watched this video and it's the same version in coyote brown ($120). I'm thinking of buying another one and setting them up face-to-face when my grandkids camp with me next summer. The quality of OneTigris products is amazing...I bought a tarp and some other pouch accessories as well. I have camped in some thunderstorms even with the awning up but I added third pole in the center so the rain rolls off. I love sitting in my camp chair while it's raining and enjoying a great cup of coffee. You can cook underneath the awning using alcohol or gas stoves; and the stove was set up on a folding table. Mike of Bushcraft Bartons (Canadian channel Oct '19) also highly recommends this tent.

I had a similarly designed tent back in the '90s, except no awning just an overhang, a modified Baker design plus with mosquito netting - I loved it! I gave it away before the turn of the century to a friend. So I jumped at the chance to get this one, and I'm looking forward to using it (I haven't got it yet). For me, a person who likes tarp camping, this is a great design that gives you the best of both worlds since it is like a tarp but also like a tent.

Just spent four nights in one of these bad boys, just myself and the cat. Weather was ideal, but some rain is coming so I’ve set it up in my back yard just to test it out. I do also always have an Aquaquest tarp with me so if I am expecting rain I can rig that up pretty quickly. I did upgrade the pegs to MSR tent pegs, and I decided to buy the One Tigris tent poles rather than using trekking poles, especially because I found the awning in the front works better with poles. Totally agree about it being a bit time consuming to set up, and it really has to be guy’ed out completely as well. I did notice some condensation, but I didn’t have the screen zipped up fully so that may have helped with ventilation. I also had the screen partially open so the cat could come and go haha. He was a little tentative the first night, but by the second night he was right at home in there with me. Overall very happy with this product, thanks for the review as I agree there wasn’t many reviews, just videos about the tent.

I have the 1.0 and did a small review of it on my channel. I'm not completely sold on the rear vent of the 2.0. Like Luke said I dont think its big enough. I like the opposing side vents on the 1.0 as I think it (possibly) gives more cross ventilation. I've had the 1.0 for about 9months now with no issues with it so far.

I have one and going to camp in it this week, no rain in the forecast though, I Am going to use trekking poles for both the sides and awning and you can just lower one side so the rain will run off the awning, the mesh screen is thick so water will not easily come through it , I think the opening at the bottom on the back side is good enough , the tent is workable to get plenty of ventilation in it and it’s a great design, I will post pictures of it set up on Facebook, I will be in a state park

Hey Luke, I have this tent and made it a simple super shelter by adding a space blanket to the rear tent wall. Radiant heat passes thru the net, is reflected by the space blanket to you, with the heat being trapped behind the mesh. I'd love to see you build a fire and try this later in the year when it is cooler.

I highly recommend the footprint for this tent at around $20, it protects the bottom of the tent, helps keep moisture from wicking through the floor and provides a little bit of a porch in the front too. I also added Green Elephant adjustable poles... it just makes this tent complete in my opinion and the poles are made well. GB

Baker is my favorite tent. I use it when I take the bike to Deals Gap or Robbinsville. Packs tight and doesn't feel like a coffin. Have this size and a taller/wider canvas one with a ridgepole and no guy lines for car trips. If i go out for just a night or two and don't expect anything more than a shower, i just take a brown 8x12 tarp ($15) and make the baker tent design off the bike.

I bought mine when 2.0 version came out. Used it 4-5 times. Only problem I've had has been the condensation issue that is common with single wall tents and lack of enough stakes. If you leave the flap or awning up no problem but if you button this thing up you will get the condensation. Overall I really like this tent and would buy again. Got to learn when not to use it and how. Good honest review Luke. Thanks

I have the original and 2.0 2.0 is big improvement but both are worth the prices. After using 2.0 this febusry on a hiking trip that started out in Amicola Falls Ga it survive 5 days in sun rain ice snow and 30 mph winds at 3700 ft. Condensation was an issue but if a person is prepared with something like US bivy for the down bag and pack cover this was great. To bushcraft a stool ontop a mountain under an awning was incredible.

People forget that the only purpose of a rain fly is to allow for venting of the inner tent during rain storms. All tents are waterproof, but without a fly, they can't breathe if they're covered with water. So a single layer tent that is perfectly waterproof shouldn't come as a surprise - it just won't breathe. But with this tent and it's open design, it won't matter as much. Interesting design.

This is a Baker style tent. You don't have to seal the front of the canopy down all the way in order to achieve full weather-proofness. That's what the wings on the sides are for. And they just came out with a new poly cotton blend that has a true rear vertical wall making it a true Baker tent (not just a "style") with a massive rear vent. I don't see them available in America yet though, but it's on their site and it looks like they're in Cambodia. The cool part besides being a poly cotton blend is that for only $100 more, the "TC" version comes with a footprint, an integrated daisy chain in the canopy for hanging & drying out stuff and it comes with tent poles included.

Have had mine for a few months also. In my opinion the pros vastly outweigh the cons! ANY single wall tent, especially of this size will have condensation issues.....deal with it. Also you forgot to mention the built in tensioners on the guy lines....a very nice feature. For the price/weight and ease of set-up this tent is a winner! Also ANY tent will stink if you put it away wet! Don't do that!!!

They also didn't make the covers wide enough to protect the vent from anything but straight falling rain. Instead of adding stiffeners and accordion side to the cover flap, gear testers said they would rather have them removed completely. The original design for this tent came from a OneTigris customer\tester, they have a Gear Test\Co-Innovation page where you can apply to test new gear coming out. Or, put forward your own ideas and collaborate with 1Tigris to bring them to market.

Just got mine and I've used it twice. It's just a neat/unique tent. Love it. I have not used it in rainy conditions so I can't comment on water proofing. I do agree with you're cons. Not enough stakes. Low ventilation/ thick mesh. It was hot on one of my trips in an open field and I had to bring in extra poles and I also set up a second tarp over it for shade and ventilation. The second trip was in a wooded area so no problem setting up. However, One Tigris should think about an exoskeleton frame for arid areas. Lastly, shipping took exactly one month (corona?) So don't be in a hurry.

Been using mine for 3 months and I love it.. it’s perfect for a backpack tent and my buddies kept saying they were gonna get one. As far as the condensation it wasn’t that bad honestly.. just make sure the front awning wasn’t completely closed and about half way.

That cow making a few appearances was the icing on the cake…. Lol. I’m looking at buying this tent,as it has a bit more room for me and my Belgian Shepherd Dog. He’s not a fan of small tents…. Lol. Strength and honour,Luke.! Our best to you and yours.

Good review, Luke. Speaking of the waterproof treatment, have have you ever done a comparison test of the readily available treatments? I’m not the only one interesting in treating a tent, tarp or jacket.

I chose this tent....based on your review. I like the big door with the awning. Allot of my old tents as a boy had this feature. Price is really good

Just picked up this tent. They kind of listened and upped the stakes to 12. I also didn't notice any smell. Hopefully its still waterproof

I recently purchased 2 of these for the family. I am probably going to return them because after hearing about the bathtub not having enough waterproof properties. The tub shouldn't leak IMO. I wish there was something comparable to this tent. Thinking about going to the Paria BREEZE MESH TENT with a tarp.

Only tried it in the dry in the garden a few times but has been great. Just been using treking poles and had to dig out a peg from another tent to set up. Great fun to sit under the shelter and cook a meal though.

Nice tent. I like the design. I would keep it open and use a tarp if rain became an issue. Thanks Luke.

Great review Luke. Like you said, lot of videos show-casing this tent but, your review was very helpful. Added to my wishlist for woodland camps. Worth doing some homework on and practising guyline techniques and gizmos. In my experience, trying to learn 'on the job', while weather and darkness closes in, can fray the nerves and temper. Lokk forward to trying this one out👍🏼

Great review! You hit on additional points which were important to note that wasn't covered from your last review (For good reason). Thank you again for being thorough. Personally, I'm sold on this being used in colder weather at this point. I do not do well in heat and if you are noticing the differences... I know I will too. I'm a fan of the non-free standing tents because it reuses what I'm already carrying (for the most part). Realistically, I am currently 100% hammock on any hike, but always looking to be well-rounded on what's out there.

Thanks for the actual review. I've watched many bushcrafters, campers and the like use this tent and say it's good for some place to sleep, but so is a tarp lol. No one has gotten into detail. I've been debating on whether or not to get this as a disaster tent. I mean Japan, I gotta deal with earthquakes, typhoons, tsunamis, volcanoes, radioactive fish and the occasional Godzilla sighting. So something that can fit in my disaster pack along with the cat would be good. I'd use my camping tent, but I try to keep all of my field stuff separate from the bug out gear.

This tent reminds me of the Whelen Lean-to which was warmed during the winter by a campfire in front of it. If this is possible with this tent it could extend it to a four season tent providing there were not blizzard conditions. In any case it looks to be a great three season backpacking tent and at $120 I would not mind having occasionally waterproof it. Thanks Luke for a thorough review.

I have this tent ,but mine don't have the narrow back vent ,it has two window vents one at each end , it was sold as the 2.0 but I believe it is an earlier model , But it works great for me , and I don't think I get as much of the condensation as the 2.0 ? great product ,thanks for all you do .

Texas Longhorn..... beautiful creature. Thanks for a good, in-depth and honest review...as always. I know the smell to which you refer. I am not certain what causes it but it is as if whatever it is they use ....goes rancid and it is almost impossible to get rid of.
