I do not believe they’re still throwing out this “he won two cups” excuse. It’s one thing for Ten Hag to do it in self-defense, but for Keane and Neville to do it is pathetic.
@2amBreakfastАй бұрын
That is ultimately the manager's job though, to win trophies. Granted, he's not won the big trophies, but the point is compared to previous managers - and most managers in the league - he has won 2 trophies in 2 seasons. No one, including the lads on the podcast, are saying that means he's doing a good job. But it's a better defence than most managers have when they are under pressure.

@@lnonno9321Moyes won nothing (only Community Shield, which nobody regards as a trophy). Van Gaal won one trophy. Mourinho won 2 if you exclude the Community Shield. Solskjaer won none. I love that Roy doesn’t blame the manager, he gives all the responsibility to the players. The players play.
@nxt1990Ай бұрын
Roy is spot on this episode. Players need to be able to recognize situations and adapt to them as well. It's easy to blame the manager for every decision on the pitch but even Mourinho said as a manager you can't think FOR a player. There has to be some sort of tactical intelligence & momentum from players themselves.
@lucioledizerot196Ай бұрын
Roy says that because his tactical knowledge is limited. Yes players are responsible, but systems win games for a reason
@andyhxАй бұрын
@@lucioledizerot196 exactly. These days players MUST play to the system or they will be dropped. It's not about adapting or reacting, it's the polar opposite of that. In any given situation, player A has to be in area B, which is pre-designated by the coach. They work for hours on this in training.
@andyhxАй бұрын
@@nxt1990 if that were the case you'd just get a bunch of talented individuals and throw them onto the pitch. There's a reason why tactics evolved, it was so lesser talented teams could beat better ones. @ 4:17 I'm Dutch, living in Amsterdam: To pronounce the Dutch surname "Slot" correctly in English, the "o" should be a short sound, similar to the vowel in the English words "hot" or "lot" (but not as drawn out as the "o" in "boat"). Phonetically, it would look like: /slɔt/ Here's the breakdown: The "S" is pronounced the same as in the word "sit". The "l" is also the same as in "lot". The "o" is a short, open vowel sound, like in the Dutch word "gôh", similar to the "o" in the English "hot" or "not". The "t" is pronounced clearly, just like the "t" in "top". So, "Slot" should sound like "Slot", with a short "o", not "Sloat" or "Slut". peace out....

This episode clearly shows the different styles of analysis of the four. Neville speaks conceptually from a strategic viewpoint, Carra is the stats based detailed analyst, Keano is all about the attitude and character of the players while Wright is more about the emotional feel of the play.

My only problem is exactly what Wrighty said. United's offensive third isn't threatening enough or good enough to beat most defenses consistently enough in comparison to most prem teams.

27:20 I agreed with Wrighty the setup of the team and with Carragher that Bruno’s positional discipline are part of the reasons that affect Casimero’s bad performance on the pitch as a holding midfielder. We saw from the three matches before the one against Liverpool that as long as there are runners (eg Mount) alongside Casimero, he can play a good role for the team. But Mount was not playing against Liverpool, and everything changed for the worst. One solution would be to play a midfield diamond with Bruno or Erikssen at the tip (as 10) and Casimero at the base. Along the left and right of the diamond, Mainoo, Ugarte, Collyer, Mount when he comes back,and even Anthony. This can let Bruno to be more attacking minded and our forward players (Rashford, Garnacho, Amad, Zirksee) to focus on being more effective on the last third of the field.
