I have incredible memories of CREED. I am a Canadian who was playing pro hockey for the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks and we used to frequent the bar that Creed regularly played at and got to see them grow into a massive band. The owner of the bar was our pal and he eventually became their manager. They were all great people and i'm thankful for those times. At the time, we had no idea that they would turn into a massive act.

If anyone denies that Creed wasn't a huge success at the time is delusional. An amazing collection of talent. Albums sales and sold out shows don't lie. As with many bands ...things just imploded. It happens. At least Alter Bridge was born from it and that is a great thing that is still thriving.
@evilpandakillabzonattkoccu4879
@evilpandakillabzonattkoccu4879 Жыл бұрын
success doesn't equal talent. I'm not saying they aren't talented.... I'm just saying: many talented people aren't known and many know people lack talent. People don't like them for the same reason they don't like Nickleback.... and the same reason, ironically, that they like Steven King. King calls himself the McDonald's of authors. McDonald's is popular globally! .....is it a perfectly cooked steak? no.... but people aren't very bright if they go to McDonald's expecting a steak. ....or expecting some groundbreaking literature from Steven King (I have nearly half of his books and I love his work. I also enjoy Big Macs). People wouldn't dislike this band to the degree they do, if they weren't successful. Nobody hates Puddle of Mudd with this sort of fervor. 🤷‍♂️ Creed didn't sell that many albums to nobody. They didn't have actors filling the stadium shows they sold out. 🤷‍♂️ A lot of bands I personally can't stand have huge fan bases. No many have as much hate thrown at them though. Doesn't really make sense. Also, to be clear: I used to be a Creed fan... but I'm an atheist and Creed isn't something I listen to still. I'm not saying I turn it off but I rarely think of Creed, personally, when making a playlist. I say that because I'm not some huge Creed fan or someone who likes them because of religious reasons. Instead, I don't think they deserve all the hate they get and I don't have a dog in that race.

Is Creed a successful band? Indeed it is. It's undeniable and anyone who denies it is either deaf or delusional. Is Creed's music good? No, their music is bland and boring apart from the Full Circle album. The band has everything every true musician doesn't want to be

I wouldn't say they were *the* biggest thing around, more like they were among the top musical acts of the time. I was alive then too. They are certainly tied to that era. Their career did not span decades, but you’ll transport back in time mentally when you hear their records. Just like for example: Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Kid Rock, they all had about a good decade of dominance and then it was done . But anyone from that time (late 90’s to earlier 2000’s ) made an lasting impression on not just American music at the time, but the entire world.

Their music is so beautiful. I don't think Creed needed to "party on" forever. It was a religious tribute to humanity with beautiful, nostalgic lyrics; not everything has to become some eternal repetitive machine. I think so many musicians feel pressure to "keep the party going" that they lose sight of the music ... Touring, show after show. Get back to your heart, and connect with inspiration. Nothing was lost, because I believe the purpose was served; it's timeless, beautiful passion. There can be new bands or journeys for their poetry.

I have a ton of respect for what Scott has accomplished. The responsibility to perform night in and night out he speaks of is a massive blessing and should be viewed as such. When you see that as a burden or a source of anxiety...maybe the business is no longer for you. Many see a career in music as a big joy ride...it's majority the polar opposite...the focus is on the folks in attendance, sometimes at your expense. They have always said its a tough business...its a fact. Good stuff fellas!

Creed was my first concert! They came to my hometown and it was one of the biggest ones we ever had, filled up the entire fairgrounds and felt like half the town had come out for it. Had SevenDust and Finger11 I think if memory serves right, shit was off the charts, then after I stayed over at a friend's and we ended up popping the CDs we had bought in my truck and just cruising and causing a ruckus and having a good ass time singing along to all the shit we heard live earlier. Had a lotta good starts to a weekend before, but that one will always stick around my noggin!

The short version of why they broke up and stopped touring was born out my first time seeing them. The most hyped show at the time, impossible to get tickets, etc. Drove an hour to see them back in my hometown of The Woodlands, Tx. 22,000 people in a sold out amphitheater. Lights dropped, first song came on and half way through, Stapp waived off the band, the music stopped, he said, "I'm sorry, I just can't do it, I can't do it anymore...." Walked off stage, crowd was shocked. A local radio DJ came out and apologized that the show was being cancelled. Why? Stapp couldn't sing the vocals live in a tour load. He was full of steroids to keep his vocal chords going and just ran out of ability. It happened again and again and the band basically called it quits.

This hits a lot of artists and why it's so important to write songs within a range that is comfortable for you to sing. The occasional extension is fine, but you have some artists that write things that are just nuts, and it's easy to do in a studio where tracks are recorded in segments, or in sets of just a couple songs like live on talk shows, but for a two hour show back to back nights? It still happens with artists now. Sam Smith, while a totally different genre, did the same thing and if you notice a lot of his new stuff is a lot more tempered. It makes you look at it in a totally different light.
