I have played on the left side the most so it's that position I feel most comfortable and I know the best how to play. Still beginner though. But since a couple of months ago I wanted to mix things up and I started playing on the right side to try get a grip on how to play forehand play. And after have learned somewhat how to play on the right side I went back to the left side and I feel the practicing on right side has improved my left side game very much. Or it has improved my game overall. So I highly recommend people to practice both side and not be laser focused on either side.

Exactly, keep practicing both sides from the start. Keep it up!

So glad that, as a leftie, I don’t have to argue about which side to play on😄
@christophera2606Ай бұрын
Same here, instead we argue about who should finish the point 😂

@@christophera2606 That is a good problem to have.

Beginner player (2 months) and also a lefty who after about a week has stayed on the right. When I come to the court with other beginners who aren't so clued up as I am (I read/watch videos a lot), it's sort of daunting telling them that the left side player should be the more aggressive one, and the one that will generally win the point while the right sided player keeps the point going and aims to set it up; but obviously if there is an easy one I will happily go for it. Early days so far, but generally my game has been built on lobbing to the opponent's backhand where they get a bit stuck. Although oddly played a game on Saturday against a girl with a tennis background, lefty, who played both sides. Asked her why during an drinks break and her response was that she didn't care!

If you are lefty on the right side, then you can also be the aggressive one 😉. The idea of roles that left side should be aggressive and right side be builder are usually determined when there is a team of two right handed players. This is because when the ball is in middle, the left side player gets to attack easier with their forehand side. As a lefty on right side you would have this same benefit when attacking a ball that is in middle. And if there would be a team of two lefty players, then I would suggest that the default roles are switched (right side player is now the aggressive one and left side player is the builder).

@@bainuli If I ever see a team of two lefties then I'll come to the conclusion that the world has gone mad

Sounds like you're on the right track! Keep it going!

Sandy, i see you changed from Vertex to XPLO racket? what are main differences why you changed the racket? I`m now choosing between Vertex 04 AND XPLO too.
@ThePadelSchoolАй бұрын
I wanted to try the new models and really like the XPLO. Gave me more power which I need as I get older haha! Definitely worth trying out.

Beginner right handed player here, been playing for 6 months now ... I usually play on the right side.. tbh practically i dont follow the general role of both sides .. i would obviously do my best to give my partner chances and opening to score ... but i would also be aggressive whenever i find an opening for myself
@sebulbathxАй бұрын
You are not locked into playing safe and setup the balls on the right side. No matter side be aggressive when opportunity comes. But I think the forehand player should have less error than the backhand player. At least in my experience when a forehand player makes many mistakes especially unforced errors it becomes very hard to win the match. Speaking from intermediate level but I guess it applies to higher level too.

This sounds like a good approach!

What would be your advice for a lefty? Should I also train both sides, even it makes no sense, because I will (almost) always play on "my" right side.
@christophera2606Ай бұрын
Not sure if this is something for you but I'm a leftie and I play some singles games in between my double games. You get to return serve from both sides and you get a lot of practice for your different shots. With double I focus on being an even better right side player.
