I've always enjoyed corn in clam chowder, but will try this recipe! The leeks are a great idea. Growing up in the Methodist Church, I learned to love all of the old hymns, but favorites to sing are Blessed Assurance, It is Well..., How Great Thou Art & many more. At 83, iI find it a bit sad that so many churches don't use the old music. At least I can sing to myself when I play my piano. Love you two💓!

Favorite hymns: I agree with you on "It is Well with my soul", but I'm also fond of "Be Still my Soul" and "What a Friend we have in Jesus.". As for the chowder - something I learned from my sister was to cook the bacon, onion and potatoes together - almost like hash browns before adding all the other ingredients. I like your use of heavy cream. We traditionally used evaporated milk. Yours looked terrific! Blessings, Janell PS - I was 7 when Kennedy died. It's the first big historical event I remember happening in my lifetime.

I grew up in church and as a child thought the hymns were boring and we sang a lot of them on Sunday mornings. I always looked forward to the contemporary or gospel songs that we sang in Sunday night service. But as I've gotten older and been through some things, I now treasure those hymns and find they bring a soothing peace and comfort to my spirit, especially in difficult times. Some of my favorites are "Blessed Assurance", "Turn your eyes upon Jesus", "To God be the glory", "I surrender all", "Jesus paid it all", "What a friend we have in Jesus", "Nothing but the blood", "I need thee", "It is well with my soul" & "Great is thy faithfulness". I'm going to try the leeks next time I make clam chowder...recipe sounds and looks delicious.

We are in a landlocked province here in Canada, so we don't get nice fresh seafood. I have never had clam chowder. But this looks scrumptious! My family is baptist, but I married into the Mennonite brethren church. I love It is well with My soul and When the Roll is Called Up Yonder and The Sweet By and By. It is so comforting to know that, no matter our denomination, if we all love Jesus, we will all see him some day! (and we will get to meet each other too!) Cheers from Canada!

My absolute favorite hymn is It is well. No matter what life throws, I know Gods got me. My next favorite is In the Garden. We used to sing that in the car while growing up. And How great thou art. We used to sing it so slow with all the parts. When we started going to church, I thought something was wrong because they sang it faster! Chowder looks great. I’m going to try it but my hub doesn’t like thick soups, so I prob won’t add as much flour or cream. Can’t wait to have a bowl! Also can’t wait to see you shopping for a new wardrobe since you’ve lost so much weight. 😃 God bless you two.
