Easy-Peasy Tuna Melt - The Papa's Kitchen

Hi Everyone. I hope you'll try and enjoy today's Recipe. Because so many of you have asked and have been praying, I wanted to let you know that my mother gets released to home this coming Friday. She is doing remarkably well and is exceeding all the metrics set by her physical therapists and so they will now be able to continue that at home. Obviously she is very happy. HATES their food (go figure) so I will be cooking some stuff for them for the next few weeks. Again, thanks so much for your prayers and concern - it means so much to us all!

Thirty years ago my husband and I met working at a Marie Calendars restaurant….his favorite menu item was a tuna melt that I still make today….butter sourdough bread and sprinkle with parm cheese, then place cheese down on fry pan and cook until the bread and cheese are browned….add the tuna/mayo filling….yum!!

I came over from Sarah's channel! I always love seeing you in her videos, so I love your channel! I'm with Susan, I like onions but not the aftertaste. For all my raw onion needs I started using shallots. The actual taste is strong but there's almost no aftertaste! In tuna and chicken salads, I mince shallots really fine. Gives it just enough onion crunch and flavor! I also add Good Seasons Italian dressing. I'm not a big mayo lover, so the dressing is great for hiding the mayo taste, adding moisture and extra flavor. I always have Good Seasons in my fridge so it's convenient! I make it in the glass cruet they sell, according to the directions. You can use any oil and vinegar you like but I use regular vegetable oil and red wine vinegar. It really adds a great flavor to salads! Especially if you don't like mayo! I also "fluff" my tuna and chicken! Lol, I can't think of anything else to call it! Great video, the tuna melts look great!

I absolutely adore tuna melts, water based tuna with a little pickle relish, some mayo (or even mustard) and of course celery, perhaps some chopped hard boiled egg. Heated with a little Kraft cheese on top briefly in the microwave. One thing I highly recommend for canned goods including tuna cans is the use of a safety hand operated can opener - the kind that rolls the edges of the can lid safely, instead of producing a sharp lid. That way when you moosh down the trash, you don't risk injury.

I just wanted to jump back on here and say this recipe is DELICIOUS !!! My sister cooked a fresh loaf of bread and I whipped up the tuna ( most expensive in the world ) then we topped it with swiss cheese and cooked it in the broiler. It was life changing :) I did order a bunch of Fancy tuna for next week fr Natural Catch ( free shipping to Hawaii !!!! ) cause I seriously intend to serve this up at least once a week ! It is hard to keep up with my sister and her new bread machine so any other sandwich ideas you have would be appreciated. But I gotta tell you this is a winner. 10 out of 10. Thank you !!!!! And thank you to Nana for posting the step by step recipe on her blog. It was easy to follow and turned out perfect !
