Now need a part 3 with what I call the "Legacy" AV programs, the ones that use to be huge but now are pretty much only included for free pre-loaded onto machines since no one will buy them otherwise. Norton, McAfee, Avast, AVG. What I find most comical however is the comment section. People have a strange attachment to AV programs, and defend them like they're best friends or family. These are all corporations, they're not your friend, and you should absolutely switch if one doesn't currently perform well. You don't get any points for being "loyal" to an AV company, lol.

@@falcon_224 works well until you get a more sophisticated malware. There is a huge market for browser exploits, browser hijacks, session hacks, software exploits even RGB lighting exploitations, pdf malware and so much more that the built in Microsoft solutions won't stop, the benefits with Bitdefender is that they have so many layers of protection for each module, so it makes it more challenging to bypass. Bitdefender has the largest Signature database in the world, with over 500 million online devices connected across the world. Their developers also figured out that just stopping known signatures isn't enough but they also use a way to detect unknown threats by pattern recognition that runs in the cloud, a lot of malware is copied and modified, and just repacked, so when it recognizes the behavior from precious malware it can quickly stop it, even if it's undetected. I even tried my own sample and it just named it to a generic malware with a number next to it.

I am also curious if you've come across any other dedicated anti-ransomware protection utilities? It'd be interested in which "Rescue disks" are most effective. Say for example you're in the IT department of an org. Right at the end of the day, you find out you've had a security breach and some malware has made it on to some machines. But you're reasonably certain, at best it's only on half a dozen systems for whatever reason, and they're currently powered off. In this scenario, what would be the best scanner that is USB bootable? Does it even make a difference being able to scan / quarantine without having to boot into the OS?

Mind adding Deep Instinct to your tests (or provide me your sample privately with me sharing the result of testing using DI)?

if you hide the cmd window output inside the code,the outcome can change,because no real malware is going to output text to a terminal

Webroot is quite popular with companies in the Nordics. It would be neat if you could add it to the recurring comparisons.

I have a question could you please tell me if I have to choose between Kaspersky and Bitdefender, which is more lightweight and less resource intensive. Thank You.

You still did not test Microsoft Defender Business and Enterprise solutions

Can you test the Stormshield SES solution? It's a new product from Stormshield that we have just purchased in my company. Management says it's better than Bitdefender because it "cooperates" with Windows Defender, without replacing it. Thank you!

Interesting video but by no means do i think the results mean people ought to abandon Eset or Malwarebytes! W hile your at it leo i think it would be interesting to test the effectiveness of well know malwareblocking extensions on their own with no help from the browser security or Os security. Extensions such as Bitdefender, malwarebytes, comodo and etc. And see which ones do the most effective job.

That's all good and dandy... But what about many of the other antimalware systems out there. Like: AVG, Avast, Antivir, Norton, Norman, McAfee and so on???

My Kaspersky was working fine no matter the ban after i changed the Update Servers to non USA servers, but since 3 or 4 days ago it seems is not updating the database. Does Bitdefender free edition features protections against ransomware like Kaspersky free?
@MTGeomancer3 күн бұрын
Yes. Almost all AV software uses the same AV engine for every product "tier". All you get in the higher tiers are additional features, things like: firewall, vpn, password manager, etc. He did Bitdefender Free in part 1, it worked just the same as the Enterprise Bitdefender and Kaspersky did here in Part 2.
@Light-uw5es3 күн бұрын
@@MTGeomanceryes it will work but the paid one also has an additional ransomware Protection with a restore option, that the free doesn't include.
