Country music ceased to exist on radio about 10 years ago. It's basically degenerated into either crude talent-less hillbilly formulaic rap or cheap pop cowboy hat wearing backstreet boys facsimiles. Sad. The Petersens are a long overdue breath of fresh air, virtuosity and pure joy in the field of country and bluegrass.

1975, communist era, Hungary. From the happiest part of the world, a record could only be smuggled. For Christmas, a smuggled item arrived hidden in the cover of East German and Czechoslovak records. As for Blue Sky - Night Thunder, it was Michael Murphey’s album with Caroline in the Pine on it. What I could hear again 45 years later was the first click on The Petersens. Honestly? The composition much better with The Petersens, than with the original performer. That's how I became a fan :)

Excellent musicianship just right for the music and they never show off or overplay. Emmit on dobro is unbelievable while Ellen on banjo can sing and play at the same time. You don't see banjo pickers doing this very much. I won't play one against the other here just say that this whole band is great.
