I love how you reuse found treasures. Keeps that Old World charm to these restored buildings. I absolutely hate when people take an old historic place and lose its charm and history trying to make it look modern and cold with no charm at all. Love you are trying to keep some of the original charm and history in this building.

I appreciate your intros and your time spent setting up cameras and lights fitting your working space. I especially love your end of video chats and how you end your videos allowing you to connect with your audience. Even though its extra work and you want to focus on whats at hand, it shows how talented you are in so many areas, whether its from training or out of necessity, you get the job done and with an impecable sense of quality. Your channel is one of my absolute favorites when it comes to demolition, construction, and restoration. On a side note, maybe you can open the convent to overnight ghost stays when its ready? People might enjoy a spooky night spent in the basement just like in Bodmin. I know I would! :D Also, those window wells are looking fantastic and the stones lining the tops of them are beautiful! There is beauty and history to be found in every facet of the convent! It is so wonderful to see a new chapter of life being brought to such a wonderful building. "When it’s dark in a basement, who can hear you scream when you’re alone?" hmmmm.... I don’t blame you at all; I wouldn’t want to be there alone at night, either. I’ve had my fair share of experiences with ghosts and hauntings when I owned an 1887 Victorian house, so I would think that if you haven’t encountered any ghosts or spirits by now, they likely won’t bother you if they were there. I love your videos and never miss them. Thank you for sharing content that is both educational and entertaining!

I’m curious about the chemistry of lime mortar and the way it degrades into basically just sand. If you wet it would it go hard again or has the lime component somehow disappeared over time? The tomettes are a fantastic discovery!

Dampness, it does something to its structure. I’m surprised the clay tiles haven’t degraded because when we dug out the kitchen floor we only saved about 20% of them the rest where crumbling and it wasn’t as damp

One of my neighbors had bought his house because of the slate flooring, and they found a stack of precut replacemens in the old unused root cellar! Saved him the cost of replacing the already broken tiles, and the previous owner knew nothing about them! Those tile were broken for about 7 yrs, and he didnt know they had stockpiled the slate for future accidents!

Hey from Memphis. Well that brought back childhood memories. My brother and I were Dad’s laborers once we cleaned an exterior wall of bricks to be reused in an addition to our house. The mortar didn’t come off easily either.

That looked like the fastest and easiest demolition (from the point of view of knocking down the “stone” walls) ever. You should maybe put in more light down there…. ‘Tis a dark and gloomy place - as all basements of really old buildings should be. I’ve loved the opening shots lately of the convent in the fog. Nice and moody.

Billy! Dad and Yanis are making great window boxes! That will keep lots of things out! As for the tiles, it doesn’t surprise me they made walls that way in a convent. As they years passed and money grew tighter the nuns were being resourceful! Great find either way because now you can be resourceful and carry on the tradition!

Chipped or broken tiles can be used in areas where you may need smaller or cut ones, like around the edges, so don't throw them away.

The very first of your convent videos that I saw was where you were up on a ladder in the chapel, and I noticed, while you were speaking to the camera, the blue door (behind the alter), open wide all on its own, and no one came through!
