I still love how after three DLCs since the reintroduction of the Split to X4, the Raptor as the first is still one of the undisputed XL triumvirate of "F U" with the Asgard and Erlking and each of them fulfill a different role. The devs over at Egosoft have done a remarkable job at not rendering older ships obsolete via powercreep as new updates and DLC bring along more content.

Watching a video showcasing this ship is how I get into X4 back in the day. Great game, severely let down by a miserable AI and a lot of clunky, obscure mechanics. Add enough Mods to it to fix all the issues and the game really shines. Expect about 1000 hours of gameplay though if you get into it. It is absolutely not for a feint of heart that is for sure.

what, the NPC empires aren't a good target? what about the never-ending campaign against the Xenon? All at once? why the hell not

@@cdgonepotatoes4219 You can't do War against any Empire, because they ever has something you want and you don't want to lost it, like Ships, Weapons, Shields, Towers, etc. And the Xenon is TRUTH that they are POWERFUL and When you have not so much ships or Powerful Ones it is Really problematic, at the beggining you must go fast because if not they destroy you and your ally factions. But later, when you put Defense Stations in the Gates and you have a Powerful Ship, They don't attack in numbers that you should to use an entire fleet, they only became a fleet if you let them acumulate in some point, I think that, thats a problem for the late game When you have your Powerful Fleet and Wants to use it XD

I would say that more neutral sectors, to do war there and not in important factions sectors, And abort system with 3D Soldiers, more normal ships, Big enemy fleets but in sectors that are not the main base sector of your ally factions, More Rooms, in ships, stations, everywhere, More Heavy Cruisers or Battleshps, for Factions that has no even one, like the Teladi or the Argon or Antigone, If you want to play with any of this factions, and you want to role-play only with one of this factions you don´t have any good strong heavy ship like a Heavy Cruiser or a Battleship. Paranid and Holy Order has not either

The upcoming 7.0 update will bring late game crisis with it (you can opt out of these if you don't want them) and one of these is a HUGE Xenon invasion. A proper reason to field a fleet of these beasts.
