In my view NZ Media Council Principles and BSA Standards and the process around them have proven to be inadequate to ensure unbiased and factual information is presented by media to the public. Thus our democracy is a battle between ideologies rather than a decision process based on truth.

We also need an answer to WHY do Maori have a guaranteed 40% of student intake to the New Zealand school of Medicine & the balance made up of all other ethnicities. I'm a 5th plus generation NZ born pakeha kiwi ..my ex wife has alot of Maori in her so therefore ofcourse our kids an Mokos are maori or atleast part ..most of my friends are Maori or and part...a very small number have had recently or and over last few short years surgical operations.. on the waiting list an medical documentation their ethnicity is stated as Maori an they were seen quickly an all sorted in a few months even less...I'm on the waiting list for an important operation it's near 2 years now I've been waiting my ailment has worsened alot as its a progressive degenerating condition that can only be fixed surgically...my ethnicity on the waiting list and all medical records is stated as pakeha new zealander..my whanau an friends do not like the way I've been treated say it's so wrong unfair and racist!

The BSA only react to complaints. Lots of people are thinking and saying the same thing but if nobody complains it doesn't get looked at. They are not screening all media content they are reacting to complaints. Someone was offended by Kate's comments so they complained accordingly within the allowable time frame. I don't think they care about the truth but focus more on the context and how it could be perceived to be offensive. Maybe an action that could be taken against the BSA would be to flood them with complaints about anything you deem to be offensive and see what happens.

Regardless of whether Kate's statements were true or not. Is this more broadly a case of suppressing public discussion? Her statements sounding perfectly valid, does make the BSA decision look very anti European. This is increasingly the norm in New Zealand. It is as if we are the minority ethnicity. There are many things happening in Britain that are equivalent and worse.

My father was a GP in a deprived part of the Wellington region and took pride in helping certain communities, I also have a friend who is a GP in a similar position. I am disgusted that politicians and media are allowed to push their narrow views on healthcare and race and their narrow ideas about race politics and discrimination onto men who are significantly better able to make the right decisions. My dad and my friend are: -Better educated -More intelligent -More ethical and less 'racist' Than ANYONE who wokes (deliberate typo) in media or ANY of NZs MPs The people who work in healthcare are committed to helping those who need it, and have been world leaders in EVIDENCE based policies. Sure, the medical profession may have gotten some things wrong in the past, but they should be allowed to lead the push for improving things and not be manipulated by petty political agendas. Politicians increasingly seem to represent the worst of us.

Consider by contrast the BSA to my knowledge has never issued a breach notice to any broadcaster perpetuating negative stereotypes about Pakeha, which occur every time anyone on TV or radio talks about "white supremacy" or "colonialism", which is frequently. I would argue that by BSA not prosecuting those instances of racism, they can only be viewed as also extending special treatment to Maori and Pacific Island peoples based solely on those specific ethnicities.

People I know are now telling Health and other Govt bureaucrats when asked that they identify as Maori or PI regardless of whether they have ancestry or not. On occasion that they are challenged for proof they just go nuclear on the bureaucrat “are you questioning my whakapapa??” etc etc. Seems to work. I suggest everyone follows suit.

I can guarantee that what Kate said is the truth, my husband (retired) was told an x-ray he had at the Horowhenua Hospital was $130.00 and the reason, only maori, pasifika and community card holders did not have to pay! So I believe Kate did not breach the BSA because this was 100% going on. Yet another reason why our country has been divided by race!

Just had a look at the BSA website. Governors: women and ethnic persons over represented. Lawyers overrepresented: 3 to 1. Then the staff. Women 7 versus men 2. Lawyers - ridiculous 7 lawyers or former lawyers or worked in the legal profession which under the Lawyer and Conveyancers Act means they were lawyers versus 2. Of the total staff that's 10 out of 13 that are/were lawyers. Only 2 out of the total have broadcasting experience as Broadcasters rather than lawyers for broadcasters. Minister for Broadcasting please go in there and sack the board and staff and reestablish a proper hiring balance that is backed up by an employment charter that is waaaaay more representative of New Zealand demographics than what is in place right now.

I've complained to the BSA three times. In every case, there was a clear breach of the standard of accuracy or impartiality. In every case, they trumped up some ridiculous argument about why that was not the case. The BSA is not fit for purpose and needs to be shut down then replaced with a new authority that's not full of left-wing, biased Wellingtonians.

Ethnicity should never be a priority in medical/ clinical need. This to me is racism against every one else needing medical care. The broadcasting authority need disbanded for their lack of understanding about racism.

Many of my whanau have graciously return to their ancestors and had bravely accepted their illness due to the fact of excessive indulgment in life's rich enjoyments,many times its us who are left that try to extend their time with us and support their care any way possible,...so to those that have kindly continued to read my comment there simply is no que jumping based on ethnicity ie...maorri or pacifica peoples and Kate was in breach because she was wrong.

I object to seeing to grown men kissing each other on National television it makes me real very uncomfortable and I had trouble trying to explain why it is happening to my 8 year son , so I complained to BSA about it and never got a reason or a response why such a scene was being scene at that time, nothing but crickets, I wounded why

If someone has been waiting in line at Pak n Save to pay for their shopping for 45mins and I because of my race skip the line. That to me as a Pacific Islander if I saw that happen would tell my Pacific Island brother or sister to get to the back of the line and wait like everyone else. To those Islanders who disagree are just racist.
