I still live by your questions "will a worse hand call" or a "better hand fold" when considering a bet or check - especially post flop. With these passive players in the hand, did you think a bet on the flop would get 88 - 1010 or an x7 to fold? If not, then what do you think about checking the flop and firing on the turn if the passive players check to you again. (Seems to me that checking the flop might give the appearance that you are hoping your opponents catch up to your over pair. Also since you have the nut flush draw on the turn, you're blocking the chances they have a club draw ... which increases likelihood of folds to a turn bet. And betting the turn after checking the flop gives you a chance to realize your equity on the river (assuming one of the two villains had x7 or any other pair.) Lastly, as the video shows, AK had decent show down value, so there's always a decent chance you'll still drag the pot if you check back the river even after missing your draws . Thoughts on taking the check flop and bet turn line?
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
Those questions can be too rigid on earlier streets with non-shallow SPRs fwiw. I don't love the check flop/bet turn line here, but you could likely carve out assumptions that make it viable.

Intuitively your play makes a lot of sense too, so it's nice to get confirmation through the math. I just wonder about the size of the flop bet. Do you think a bigger bet, say 50% of the pot instead of 1/3 would have made a difference as to how many of the opponents called it? Also, how would your behavior have changed (and the solver's results) if you had been in EP instead of having position throughout the hand?
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
Bet sizes and position changes would certainly impact everything (from both the solver and my personal adjustments), yes.

Regarding flop action the first graphic 1:49 was to bet 99% of the time and the second graphic 2:51 to bet 68% of the time. What am I missing?
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
The 68% refers to the *entire* range, while the 99% was for that specific combo

This is how I see it. If you fire that river you get 2 folds. But in situations when someone is sandbagging a good hand if you bet they raise and your put to a difficult decision. Not that difficult it’s basically fold. So by checking this you avoid value owning yourself in the situation someone is sandbagging a good hand. That’s #1 #2 is most players are playing good hands with high broadway cards. With this board and all the checking showing weakness it is very likely we are good here and win if it checks down cause we have close to the best high broadway cards.
@aceking53602 жыл бұрын
Correction you have the nut high two different broadway cards that are typically played. I thought there was a broadway on board
@ThePokerBank2 жыл бұрын
It really depends how you construct their flop x/call ranges. If they are really pair-heavy, I'm not sure my bet/x/bet line looks believable enough to get pairs to fold...

I guess all those players had some excuse to be in the hand because of the weak action, and maybe nobody wants to bluff because it's a three way pot. This is just one of those mundane hands that happens a hundred times, which happens to be a bloated pot because of a straddle. Even so, I probably would have ditched AJo at the earliest opportunity after completely wiffing the flop. I don't really like those middle aces, if you hit the ace you have to worry about your kicker, as opposed to having a good kicker or at least knowing you have a bad one. Solver is so funny though. Nobody with this action will have AA/KK, and there's basically no difference in how I play QQ vs 99 on this flop or turn (which is to realize that I am going to win unless somebody hits A, K, or a straight, and only the straddle is possibly drawing to the straight).

Ak is the worst nut flush draw as it is harder to stack a smaller flush with it

Hey man, it looks like you have a nice setup for the audio, but I find the sound of your voice (take it as non offensively and non personally as possible lol) gets very monotone and a bit tiring to listen to because all the audio is in the high frequencies and the "mix" is extremely dry. I'm probably a huge minority here but the information you provide and your delivery is great, I just feel like a few settings on your recording setup would up the watchability of your videos alot! A more roomy, natural and wide sound would be so much more pleasant rather than the "stuck in a small box radio speaker" type of sound. Someone who used to be fantastic at this was "totalbiscuit" when he was around, he should have videos up still - sound would probably be over the top for something like this though but it is nonetheless a pleasure to listen to :P

I would prefer to, but my current recording setup has TERRIBLE acoustics and non-stop construction across the street (you can even hear some of the beeping in the video). I have to deaden the crap out of the mix just to make it semi-listenable, which is hopefully a shorter-term solution.
