2014 Jeep Misfire complaint and P0205 Injector code

Customer complaint: Runs rough and engine light flashing
Duplication: Nope, didn't miss while in shop running.
Test Performed: Code scan revealed injector circuit code for number five, checked current draw at ASD fuse but to many circuits connected, checked current draw at injector sub harness with addition channel on #5 injector control circuit for sync, number 5 pulls less current than other injectors, check resistance of all 6 at sub harness connector and # 5 was out of range, checked at injector to rule out wiring issue and confirmed injector fault, found fluid in connector for #3 and #5 but will dig deeper later.
Recommendation: Replace #5 injector and may need #3 as well in future, will need upper intake gaskets as well since plenum removal is required.

Nice touch on the bonus footage. I did a video a couple of weeks ago on a similar jeep injector issue. Right in the middle of filming the injector went from bad to dead. Probably because of the heat. The "cooling down" trick would've been a nice touch for me as well. Keep up the good work

It was a trick my dad taught me about 10 years ago when we used to work on a lot of Buick 3.3L and 3.8L cars. Had to cool off the shorted injectors to get the car to start back up.

Great video Chad. Your editing it on point. Like you said it’s hard using the Snap-on scope after using a pico 😂

That is the whole reason I bought the pico. I was having learning difficulties with snapon and the Pico seemed easier to use so I ordered the Pico.

ThePracticalMechanic after getting the pico my life has gotten so much easier. I feel if you can use a Snap-on scope, any other scope will be a piece of cake

I just absolutely had maneuvering the waveform on the snapon scope. Pico is just a mouse drag away.

Thank you Chad. Good job. I appreciate your videos. Did you locate the root cause of how or where the oil was entering the injector connectors? Was it wicking thru the harness from the oil pressure sensor? Wondering if the oil also made its way to the ECM connector.

One of the things I did check was the ecm connector and it was dry. My first thought was the oil pressure switch but after looking at the harness the oil pressure and oil temp sensors are isolated in another subharness under the lower intake manifold. The injector sub-harness connector was also dry. The only place it could have come from is fuel wicking through the fuel injector. I will keep you updated once I get it all apart. A 0P205 low circuit can be fix just changing the injector?

miickey505 Yes this jeep was fixed by replacing the fuel injector. There are other things that can cause this code so I recommend resistance checking the injectors if you don’t have a lab scope. This can easily be done at the injector sub harness on the side of the intake manifold.Or remove the intake manifold and check Resistance directly at the injectors

miickey505 the vehicle in the video hasn’t had any issues since. It’s been a while but I think I replace two injectors that were out of spec when resistance tested. It wouldn’t hurt to change all 6 but will cost more.

@@ThePracticalMechanicI can’t find any info on where the injector sub harness is. Trying to diagnose before pulling my intake manifold. Had a p0305 for about a week, barely noticed a misfire. Now flashing and threw a p0205 code super rough idle and driving.
