In a way, it is also good that this issue with China happened as it was a sort of "stress test" for the Indian military and enabled to cover any gaps in preparedness that may have existed. For too long, we have been focused on Pakistan, but the reality today is Pakistan is hardly an opponent and increasingly irrelevant (it is like the Indian Cricket team focusing on Zimbabwe, while the teams to beat are Australia and England). For China, this withdrawal was a face-saver.

On a side note...it did not help that Gen VK Singh stating that we crossed the LAC many times, somehow helping Chinese case for them. Chinese then responded tacitly to that Also the Indian air force has compromised itself int the helo shootdown of our own. At first they said, it was a technical glitch and the helo crashed due to it. But witnesses could not be silenced...they said they heard an explosion and there were so many allegations flying around and even Pakistan tried to credit for that. But truth about helo shoot down came out AFTER THE ELECTION ended and as such Air force was FORCED by the Govt to keep quiet for face saving in election hype. In the end I could not just blindly trust the armed forces after that.
