Ayush Mourya It is height of sin to leave cows as vagabonds to fend for themselves. Domesticated animals have lost ability to forage for their food. And with the dwindling grass patches (no stall fed cow gets green grass or a few times a week at the most). Cow is a pet as well as economic means. In keeping with the ethics enunciated in scriptures one is obliged to keep it till its last day. If unable to feed it is better to send it to slaughter even. Once upon a time a dying cow (or bull) is waited & after the death the "avarna" castes were called to clear it, as a matter of right. They carry it when its still fresh after death, eat it & remove its skin to make treated hides & its products. Thus these lowest of the low castes get a fairly good nutritional protein, unlike most others. Now that tradition is lost. What objection is there in eating the dead cattle (without delaying)?
@krishnamowar99503 жыл бұрын
You have touched upon malnutrition of children. That’s one aspect. An equally important fact is malnutrition of mothers. Undernourished mothers can’t give birth to healthy babies. @@BruceWayne-qe7bs I don't think so. Beef ban always existed and just a bit more enforcement of this one policy in a few areas won't make a nationwide difference. People warned him to do a targeted lockdown only in affected areas (when cases in entire country were ~600 he shut down entire states where there was no corona, it was madness). Then when cases increased to 90K/ day they open the economy. Zero consultation from any scientific task force, NHRC, states etc. Unemployment was at 45 year high even before corona. Our economy dropped by 20% because of this lockdown, again highest drop in the world. Growth rate before corona had already come down to 3%. This sharp increase in hunger index is purely because of economic mismanagement, which began even before corona.

Many middle class homes including mine are now serviced by chineese made machines(vaccum bots and dish washers) instead of house maids. This has impacted incomes of lots of people making their diets further frugal. Closure of schools has shut off mid day meal schemes taking away whatever little was delivered through that means. Between the vegetarian diet imposed by religious considerations and genuine concerns of meat in the diet fueling global climate change we need a plausible and palatable solution. A combination of eggs, pulses and soya seems a good bet.

Endogamy reason is bullshit. Why are people in nauru and other pacific islands, middle east are obese and over weight? No protein in diet logic doesnt hold too since even vegetarianism provides protein. Government doesnt spend money on free protein for poor kids or adults either in vegetarian or non vegetarian since it doesnt fetch them immediate votes. Poor and underprivileged people have worst attitudes towards food choices and honestly act like dumb shits with no intention to even act on advice. Government needs to bring change in their mentality towards how they eat food. Lack of sports culture is true. could be a reason for lack of fitness and bad health

Darwinian theory of survival of fittest applies to genes as well. If a population that is short and diabetic keeps intermarrying then the chances are that the resultant progeny will carry over these weak genes rather than eliminate them. Veg sources of protiens are present but the non vegetarian sources are much more concentrated and in my personal experience of physical training you need optimal doses of meat, fish and egg in your diet for both performance and recovery. You will need to eat much more quantity of veg protien food to get the same effect as eating a little of meat/egg/fish.

Mistake which we Indians commit is that we take rice or roti with potato subji. So we get starch alone and no protein or fat. We omit other veggies, cereals and pulses. Vegetarianism is definitely good for better health. Else Jains, Brahmin and other forward communities would have been 'nutritionally backward', and Dalits would have been nutritionally forward and healthier. Guess this is not so.

The problem with India is focus on wheat and paddy farming. In 60s we had problem of putting food on plate and green revolution created incentive for producing paddy and wheat. Now we need to create incentive for alternative nutrition sources like soy, lentils, etc.
@hillolbharadwaj23103 жыл бұрын
Madam, try explaining the same to farmers. All they want is subsidy. But appreciate your views maam.
@amrutamanke5643 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s the problem. Indians need to think as one group of ppl. Once we start doing that we can overcome any problem. Right now farmers in Punjab and Haryana are protesting, but farmers in whole of india are happy or at least not dissatisfied with the new farm laws. That needs to be shown by our media too.

Thank you so much for this eye opener - we really need to raise the awareness about these issues and stop living in denial. This is definitely going to be one of the major challenges that our country has to face and a solution to this can possibly help us deal with other challenges as well. Focusing on newer essential crops, encouraging sustainable agriculture will also help in dealing with climate change and farm productivity. New farm laws would've helped but all the politics around it is killing that possibility as well.
