Unilever destroyed their ice cream customer base by substituting corn syrup for sugar and put it in cheaper packages. I noticed this right away and switched to ice creams that is higher quality.

A few things about the messaging issues. 1. The most expensive phones are Android phones right now. 2. It's not about the color of the bubbles. SMS isn't encrypted as iMessages or RCS; multimedia isn't supported well over the green bubble, and group chat doesn't work over green bubble. All of this can be solved of Apple adopts RCS, but so far they have refused to, and they're begrudgingly bringing RCS support sometime later next year. That's the problem. Of course there are other problems with Apple's anticompetitive practices.

this, I was also going to point out the lack of encryption when you force android / ios communication to go back to SMS. In my head this is the main issue where they are weaking all consumer privacy by having a walled garden approach when RCS is avaliable

There’s a bunch of high end Android phones that are more expensive than the iPhone, but the cheaper Android phones sell so much that on average price per unit iPhone is much more expensive.

The ecryption software Android uses is owned by google and has a usage fee. I do not think it's fair to force Apple to pay Google to use their encryption when Apple's encryption is free.

Twitter and KZbin have far more bots than Reddit. I almost never see bots on Reddit. I see them constantly on Twitter and KZbin. It hasn't even hurt Twitter and KZbin that much anyway, so who cares? People have also mentioned stolen content, which also doesn't matter, because it's no different to all other social-media sites as well. They all get away with it all the time. Why wouldn't Reddit?

Idk if ice cream sales are lower necessarily bc of glp-1 agonists, or moreso that things like ice cream are considered "luxuries" and get cut first when money gets tighter and prices of basic living (primary food, rent, bills, necessities, etc.) go up. And, when the price of ice cream goes itself goes up beyond "reasonable" price, it motivates a person to trim it off their must-have list even more. Personally it's true for me, since cost of living has dramatically increased while my pay has stagnated, buying treats like ice cream and other "indulgences" (i.e., splurge makeup or clothing purchases) get trimmed first.

Reddit has terrible monetization potential through ads, people who read Reddit typically run adblockers or are smart to not click on an ad. Ads are effective on the average person. They'd need to be very clever to find a way to sell ads to that public. But, it has probably incredible monetization potential through other means, like subscriptions and other services people would like to use, or selling data for AI. They just haven't figured out it yet, and the risk is if they don't.

The play on PE is a play on inflation. As long as the money printer continues, wealth will accumulate at the top and all those wealthy individuals, managers, soverign funds, etc will need to continue deploying. Also PE nowadays is very different from the traditional PE LBOs - those are a small portion of the cake nowayds.

These government employees get to mingle with the rich and powerful - that comes with a lot of perks. If you kid just graduated from University - Poof, a job appears for them. I think the MBA type approach for monetization for Reddit would end up destroying Reddit in just a matter of years, because the power in Reddit is its users not the platform. Misunderstanding that will lead to disaster which we have already seen. There are other cases of such things, like what happened with FIFA games, a bit of a stretch but hopefully you get the gist.
