This is so upsetting. Aspects of the reported inaction and lack of support for this family are unacceptable.

Any evidence of bullying should be treated seriously and bully’s need to be afraid of the consequences. At the moment there seems to be none! RIP Charlotte ❤️

As a mom (not in Australia) of two teenagers I can promise you this. 1) Banning kids from internet will not keep them off social media. They WILL find a way (unfortunately) and 2) Bullying will never stop. If it is not via social media it will pick up in other forms of bullying. So sad, but it is true.

Something still has to be done about it. Maybe Hedonism is to blame. Australia is a Godless country. We ought to go back to Christianity and learn to be like Jesus Christ! Do you want Mass shootings to happen?

My niece was groomed at the age of 7 American online predator Now in jail. But this animal sent pics of my niece to a couple of her so called friends. Fast forward high school These girls bullied harassed and turned so many people against her whilst dealing of the trauma of being groomed. They threatened in year 8 they would spread these 6/7 year old images of her. And by god they Did!! My sister and I warned the principal at her high school this threat was made!! HE DID NOTHING! He blamed my niece telling her she was the instigator!🥹🥹🥹 The police, her school, DID NOTHING!!!! Thank god and by the grace of god she is still with us. My heart is breaking for this family 🥹🥹🥹🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 it’s horrible for them. God bless them Godbless little Angel Charlotte 🥹🙏🏼

I was bullied relentlessly back in the 1980s etc and you didn't just leave it at school. It followed you home in your head.

I’m sorry that was your experience. The point this father is making is that social media has made it so there is no safe space. Bullies can be in your face 24/7 through several platforms. There’s no escape. But I’m sure he also understands that bullying has never been ok OR been as simple as just “cuts and bruises in the schoolyard”.

Any kind of bullying should not happen to any person or any age group or any nationality at all! Shame on people who thought they are better than others and think that they are allow to bully anyone else.

There should be anti-bullying law's in schools because even if u take social media that will still be happening in schools and u changed nothing

I’m amazed Australia made such a bold move to ban social media for children. I wish the whole world would do the same.
@nadiamihova391224 күн бұрын
They haven't done it yet and I am waiting to see how exactly they will enforce this ban when they do put it in place. 😏
@multioptioned23 күн бұрын
Can't be done. They are just asking social media platforms to block new accounts linked to under 16yo. There's no way to enforce it. Unless you identify every person using social media. How could they cross check date of birth data? Or check people connected from outside Australia or using VPNs?

I'm a little baffled how raising the age is supposed to help when their daughter was already too young for the current age and was still on social media anyway?

If global governments can prevent and put censorship and bills to end individual personalized cyber bullying it will be great. Not censor for businesses.

A similar incident occurred in Brisbane recently….what is happening to these bullies?? Are they from the same grade/age? Or from the older students in high school?

Bullies are so weak and the ones who made this sweet beautiful child take her own life they are cowards that have to live with that for the rest of the lives
@georgiadixon304625 күн бұрын
Why do they wait for kids to take their lives before changes are made? The system puts the blame and responsibility on the victim because it’s easier for them. It’s a gutless system and the teachers are as weak as 💩. I’m so sorry that nobody protected you sweetheart 💜

It would make more sense to create and implement and regulate devices that can’t access social media sites for people under 16. They could make it so only approved sites are accessible via the internet and the phone is installed only with apps like the camera, text , calls , health apps, streaming services like Netflix and games. Make it the social norm that kids only have access to those regulated devices.
@multioptioned23 күн бұрын
Impossible to police or enforce. What is required is parental supervision and involvement. Responsibility should not be outsourced.
