I attended an Alice Cooper charity concert and got to go backstage and meet Alice. As I was shaking his hand, Rob walked up and Alice said, "Rob, meet my good friend Connie". Both men were very humble and gracious. It was one of those times when an artist you have followed and supported for many years lives up to your expectations.

Diamonds and Rust Joan Baez Well, I'll be damned Here comes your ghost again But that's not unusual It's just that the moon is full And you happened to call And here I sit Hand on the telephone Hearing a voice I'd known A couple of light years ago Heading straight for a fall As I remember your eyes Were bluer than robin's eggs My poetry was lousy you said Where are you calling from? A booth in the midwest Ten years ago I bought you some cufflinks You brought me something We both know what memories can bring They bring diamonds and rust Well, you burst on the scene Already a legend The unwashed phenomenon The original vagabond You strayed into my arms And there you stayed Temporarily lost at sea The Madonna was yours for free Yes, the girl on the half-shell Could keep you unharmed Now I see you standing With brown leaves falling all around And snow in your hair Now you're smiling out the window Of that crummy hotel Over Washington Square Our breath comes out white clouds Mingles and hangs in the air Speaking strictly for me We both could have died then and there Now you're telling me You're not nostalgic Then give me another word for it You who are so good with words And at keeping things vague 'Cause I need some of that vagueness now It's all come back too clearly Yes, I loved you dearly And if you're offering me diamonds and rust I've already paid

Rob is always amazing. He takes this humble ballad and gives it immense character. Also, who else could make a performance powerful by simply pacing back and forth on the stage. Only Rob. Thank you sir for sharing your talent with the world.

Not such a "humble" ballad. One of the very best.

@@VielFart Allow me to clarify. I was referring to the original Joan Baez version of the ballad.

@@PaddyPaddy-sx9sf Thank you. Yes I know you were. My point was that Baez's composition is not humble.

I have seen Priest twice I was there in St.Louis for Ozzfest 2004 . I bowed down to KK and he smiled at me . I saw them again on the Masters of Metal tour .

This is my favorite version of diamonds and rust. These are about the best live vocals that i have ever heard from Halford.

Ok, have heard other versions of this song as well as the original by Joan Baez, and my opinion "will never" change this is by far the best version of this song! Holford has a unique voice, so does Ozzy, Joe Cocker,Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash, that make their songs very hard to beat and never duplicated.

I'll be damned, here comes your ghost again But that's not unusual It's just that the moon is full And you decided to call And here I sit, hand on the telephone Hearing the voice I'd known A couple of light years ago Headed straight for a fall But we both know what memories can bring They bring diamonds and rust Yes we both know what memories can bring They bring diamonds and rust Now I see you standing with brown leaves all around and snow in your hair Now we're smiling out the window of the crummy hotel over Washington Square Our breath comes in white clouds, mingles and hangs in the air Speaking strictly for me we both could've died then and there Now you're telling me you're not nostalgic Then give me another word for it You were so good with words And at keeping things vague 'Cause I need some of that vagueness now It's all come back too clearly, yes, I love you dearly And if you're offering me diamonds and rust, I've already paid But we both know what memories can bring They bring diamonds and rust Yes we both know what memories can bring They bring diamonds and rust Diamonds, diamonds and rust Diamonds, diamonds and rust Diamonds, diamonds and rust Diamonds, diamonds and rust

A masterclass by Mr Halford in Rock vocals and how to project them. Rob holds the axis of this 60,s band while the other members explore the perimeter, its always been that way. I'm 54, and this guy was a frontman when I was at school. Its a pity some of the comments on Rob about his sexuality are from the sixties too, I thought we had left that ugly stuff in the past you guys......apparently not!

Beautiful melodic song. Incredible vocal range , and the guitars, bass and drums are epic! One of my all time favourite songs . Love playing this song, late at night, cruising up the Fraser Canyon Hwy in BC 🇨🇦.
