This is the moment that Johnny Knoxville finds out that he actually made a difference during his career of getting hurt for no apparent reason. I mean, I’m sure he knew he was making people laugh, but until this conversation he didn’t know that he made one of the greatest comedians of all time cry laughing during a really dark time in his life. You can tell in Louis’ voice it meant the world to him. This world needs laughter as much as it needs oxygen, so Knoxville’s work was actually really important. This conversation is so goddam beautiful.

That's because jackass is and will always be the greatest example of slapstick in the history of comedy. Nobody, not Buster Keaton, the Three Stooges, Chaplin or Jackie Chan did anything as amazing or outside of convention as what those idiots managed by never growing up. I genuinely believe they will be part of courses about performance art in universities years from now. I miss jackass. The only thing that ever made me piss from laughing while throwing up in my mouth.

@@MalAnders94 to an extent. Tom didn't really do the thing jackass is best known for which is physical stunts with serious consequences. I agree he got there first on a lot of things but that stuff was more like buster Keaton getting squashed by the falling wall. Both are awesome though.

I'm sure he nearly always felt happy about how popular and successful the work was, as well as how crazy and fun those times must have been, but it also must have been pretty great to hear this from a comic like Louis. He's undoubtedly VERY aware that people have called Jackass trash or accused him of playing to the "lowest common donominator" or whatever, so hearing it thoughtfully praised as an actual achievement in the art of comedy has got to mean a lot.

My experience seeing Jackass 3D in IMAX 3D was a lot like Louis' experience seeing the first movie, there were moments where I laughed so hard that I fell out of my seat onto my knees, was trying to hold onto the seat in front of me, and everyone in the theater was basically doing the same. Literally no movie before or since has ever moved me the way Jackass 3D did. It's by far the best use of the 3d technology in cinema history, when they shot the dildozooka at the screen I literally ducked out of the way.

i got to party all night with Johnny Knoxville one night when he was in my town filming "Killshot" even though his appearance was cut during the final edit. I also got to meet Ben Affleck and Neil Patrick Harris when they were here filming "Gone Girl" but they were both pretentious as hell. Phil (Knoxville) was awesome though. Ive met several famous people in my line of work so its not that big of a deal when it happens. And meeting a celebrity when you're both under the influence can be a quite volatile situation. But he was really cool. Probably because cell phones were just cell phones at this time so there wasn't 200 people pointing cameras at him. He hung out all night with me and my buddy upstairs at Port Cape Bar. He had zero arrogance and was as an absolute gentleman. He's genuinely such a good guy, that it felt like we had been friends for years and we were just getting together to ingest copious amounts of coke and Grey Goose like we'd done it a thousand times before. I wish he would read this because i know he remembers me because he was only in town for two days. Not trying to get in contact with him... i just want him to read ithis and get a chuckle. And also because i want him to know i apologize for sending him to the set the next day looking recently deceased if that was why his brief appearance got cut from the movie.
