Not the best ones to see shared but best ones to start deep and constructive coversations: the quotes/aphorisms that seem to have a good message at 1st but when you think about them they either don't make sense, are false or even harmul ways to think. Like "Depression isn't about being weak. Its cuz i tried to act strong for too long". Also "Painful things teaches us lessons" (not actual quotes but i've seen multiple that had those ideas)

We are about to see a generation of psychologists that are akin to the Ambulance Chasers of the discipline of law. I agree with you completely. Psychology should be a standard class in intermediate and highschool. The only problem is the public school districts regulating their standards for who is qualified to teach the class. Unfortunately today, i see so many psychologists who are not qualified to perform their work. The most toxic trait ive been witnessing is psychologically fractured individuals such as recovering addicts entering the field of mental heath and wellness and then using their minimal education in psychology to justify acting on their character defects. I could discuss this for hours and not run out of alarming experiences regarding these individuals and the damage they cause when they use their clients as a coping mechanism or using their clients session as their own therapy at the expense of their clients wellbeing. People do not like being called out for this. I find it difficult to constructively criticize peoples acting on this without having the individual immediately take offense at the mere suggestion of it. As we know, this shuts them down quite fast and has the opposite effect that one would be looking to have on the situation. You would think that a clinician would be the epitome of Self Awareness yet this couldnt be further from the truth. At least that is my own subjective experience in life. I sometimes wonder if i am engaging in this form of though as a way of justifying an unhealthy level of objectivity or if it is truly as bad as i perceive it to be. Clinicians need therapists more desperately than their clients do, haha.

6:03 I sometimes hear voices. I noticed a new coping mechanism for myself. I recently got a pet and a boyfriend. If I hear a negative voice I'll glance at my dog or BF. If either one of them seem completely calm and don't notice me looking around, then I'm able to realize it might just be in my head.

when you talked about trusting your therapist I really felt it. at the time, I was working with her for about two or three months and I talked about a lot of things, personal things, but avoiding the real hard truth. once, I was so sad, so worn out of my feelings and alone that I went to an appointment with her and I started crying even before she asked me how I was feeling. that's the moment I understood that I undoubtedly trusted her because I never let myself cry in front of other people (let alone a stranger) and since then I improved with my mental health. still not out of the mess I created in my head, but I definitely feel more comfortable sharing my life with her and that's liberating

I really needed to hear that little bit you said about acceptance today. I’ve semi recently been diagnosed with MS and am trying to get to that point of accepting this new reality and the physical, mental and emotional challenges I now have to face that I never had to prior to all this. I like what you said “It’s not your fault you’re experiencing this and it’s your responsibility”. Thank you for creating this channel! Keep on keepin’ on ✊
@drali5 жыл бұрын
Thank YOU for sharing this! I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It's always difficult to face a chronic condition. When you are ready, it might be helpful to connect with other individuals who have MS and learn more about how they've faced some of the situations you might face, including coming to terms with the diagnosis. Thanks again for being a part of this community!

As someone with no mental illness (at least I believe I don't have any, I function normally with occasional sprinkle of laziness and "oh no that cat doesn't like me!!! it's personal") I feel really healthy mentally just by watching this for I can't relate to any of it. I'm sorry for everyone who does. I wish you all the best with battling if not living with it.

Your videos are so comforting. I was just diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and mild depressive disorder and I’ve been going to therapy as well as taking meds just to live from day-to-day as a uni student. The constant urge to isolate myself and run from every possible interaction that had the slightest chance of humiliating me or resulting in confrontation terrified me so much that I’ve cut ties with so many people and I was faced with the pain of having panic attacks and depressive episodes more often than when I was younger. I’ve been binge watching your videos and the information you give to your audience is packaged in such a calm and comforting way and I honestly hope that this channel blows up and reaches not just people like me who are struggling but also those who have no idea at all about mental illness.

I would love for you to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 5 Episode 16 "The Body" Her mother dies unexpectedly and everyone is reacting and coping differently with their grief. It's the most realistic portrayal of dealing with death I've ever seen, and it's critically acclaimed as "the best hour of television of all time." So I think it would be pretty wonderful for a psychologist to review it.

0:46 I relate to this so much, my endo said it, my neurologist said it, my nutritionist said it, my therapist said it, my parents said it, even i said it. Im exercising every day, 1 hour 30 minutes or more, I've been for over a month now i belive. im still anxious, im still having random panic attacks, im still having depressive episodes, i feel the same, just more tired and disconnected from myself, but imma try to do it for 3 more months to see if it gets better. You know that immediate chemical reaction, cerotonin, melatonine or something like that, that happens after or during workout? I get none of those.

Hello sir. I was diagnosed as a DID patient a couple months ago. But till now i still confused what's the different between DID and MPD. Would you explain it on your next videos? Or you already have it? I love how you explain it, and yeah. I'm sure i could understand you better than my psychologist.
@Micrurus5 жыл бұрын
Mousetronauts 7 MPD is the previous name designated to the symptoms of what is called DID now (assuming you mean Multiple Personality Disorder)
@LourenceLeeServidad2 жыл бұрын
MPD is the layman's term for those who don't understand DID (and it's not even right), that's why we still hear about it now though they have updated MPD to DID. So basically, no difference.

The one thing that I couldn’t stand when I had a therapist was when they would ask how I felt and then I would say that I was okay and then they would say “okay is not a feeling is it?” Then they would keep trying to get me to give them emotions that I was feeling and would listen when I said that I genuinely didn’t know how I was feeling.
