I know this is an old comment but that stuff happened SO long ago with the whole"beef", I don't see how everyone isn't already aware of what happened. A quick Google search will fill in most of the blanks for you if you don't. Also, the bands (and members) have apologized/made up & even performed together since the beef. I think Circa Survive's success can be attributed to Anthony's connection with the audience, music, lyrics, etc. (along with the rest of the band being wildly talented). He really is a special type of frontman. Got to meet them in Cleveland earlier this month, awesome guys. Definitely check out the new album with Anthony back if you haven't already. It's a great mixture of his vocal maturity with Circa and amazing Beau riffs.

Ryndan Riley I agree a bit with you, he struggles a mad ton, more than a lot of vocalists I’ve seen, some may even go as far to say that he’s completely lost it recently, although he performs there new album pretty much on point, just can’t really do the same for their past stuff. In a way, I could say that(even this is a stretch) that his voice itself may be replaceable and the least special in the band, but he’s definitely still the most irreplaceable frontman/presence a band could have. There’s just something about him, especially if your their in front of him, even if he’s yelling lines he used to sing so angelically, there’s just this immediate and intimate connection that most of us fans keep coming back for. He’s truly a powerful person. Being backed by the most amazing bands.

@@lawrence279 Agreed they were almost simultaneous but They're Only Chasing Safety (TOCS) would fit more into the "mild" variety as opposed to the "spicy" one that Translating The Name does. TOCS's drums are more tame and it's less "metal" overall (just more screaming). UO really hit their stride with the post-hardcore/metalcore combo on Define The Great Line. UO were influential in their own right, just think in a couple different conversations.

This album completely blew me away the first time I heard it. 14 years later and it's still one of my favorite albums (along side Juturna). Changed my musical taste and what I deemed "quality" music. It will forever hold a place in my heart. Seeing them live twice, ten years apart, is some of the happiest and purest moments of my life. Thank you, Saosin.

I bought a guitar in high school and started noodling around with Blink 182 and Green day. Went to a small venue in my small city and Saosin was there playing Translating the Name. Their show made me fall in love with music and performing. Completely changed my life path.......... A few years later Saosin came back to town and the band my friends and I started inspired by Saosin was chosen to be the opening act.

OMG about time we're talking about Saosin! During my teenage years in Bali, Saosin was the emo band, and emo was literally Saosin! The band was undisputed god of emo back then. While Super Is Dead was the King of Bali during the first decade of 2000, thus punk-rock stuff dominates the youth culture along with the rise of rockabilly craze in every corner of Kuta, I can assure you that hanging out with emos and listening to Saosin all day was one of the coolest things a kid can do. What a great memory!

THANK YOU for repping Saosin and Funeral For a Friend along with Finch. Funeral For a Friend were sadly long forgotten and never got enough credit for the amazing music they contributed to that style. They were playing main stages with Iron Maiden when they were just 23 years old. I met Justin and Beau from Saosin back in 2009 at a show in NYC, great guys, great guitarists! Justin's Gibson Les Paul Triple guitar swing still hasn't been reduplicated to this day by anybody. Amazing stage presence!

Of course you have a Saosin Translating the Name video. As if I couldn't love your content any more than I did, I saw this recommendation and was stoked. This band has impacted my taste in music so much to this day. I still play that EP a couple times every few weeks.. also tack on Mookies Last Christmas and the OG I Can Tell There Was an Accident Here Earlier. Just as an edit, I was never a big fan of Cove, but a show they did recently where Anthony AND Cove were singing on the same stage.. that moment totally changed my mind. I thought they sounded so stellar together and really wish they would put out some tunes with both vocalists!

It seems like it was a Co-Headling tour with TBS and Jimmy Eat World, but Jimmy Eat World didn't play that night. It was Circa Survive opening, then Motion City Soundtrack, and TBS. Seems like I'm missing someone. Lucero maybe. I've seen TBS at Bogart's several times so Lucero might have been a different TBS show.. lol

"Sleepers" was my very first impression of Saosin, so it's always been difficult for me to go back to Translating The Name. The self-title sounds tighter and less experimental in it's execution which is why I see it as their defining album. Regardless, this is a great video discussing their history and success.

Hell yeah! Never see anyone mention A Static Lullaby any more! And shoutout to SKSK, AZ REPRESENT!! Great video. Just wanted to emphasize how much Saosin are the reason any of the bands after exist, be it Pierce the Veil, Dance Gavin Dance, Sleeping With Sirens or Hail the Sun. Without Translating the Name, none of it happens! And as a drummer, I'm so glad you made the connection about the busy screamo drumming. I hadn't consciously made that connection but you're so right! They're the reason that risecore bands like Sleeping With Sirens, Woe Is Me, and Hands Like Houses still have that crazy over the top too-many-notes drumming style 😂 and even all these "swancore" bands as they're called, though a good chunk of them could be names Saosincore! Hail The Sun sound like a carbon copy of them sometimes, and then bands like Makari and In Angles are heavily indebted to both Saosin and Circa Survive. The influence here is nye immeasurable! AMAZING video as always and stoked to join the fb group!

Also THE BLED who were fucking incredible, Job For a Cowboy, Eyes Set to Kill, Life in Pictures, Jimmy Eat World, Carissa's Wierd, Playboy Manbaby, A Change of Pace, Beg For Life, and Deer and the Headlights! And the scene is still alive and kicking! So many small bands killing it out there. Shouts out to WITH CROWS, AMERICAN STANDARDS, POINTBREAK, ARMS REACH, HEAVY BREATHER, OKILLY DOKILLY, SUNDRESSED, BASELINE, and any others I missed!!

The drums of saosin is one of the main reasons why drums is one of my biggest passions in life. Some people listen to a song and immediately gravitate to the lyrics or guitar riffs first. For me I instantly tune into drums. All because of saosin!

Funny you mention the drumming because when I got into the post hardcore/screamo sound I thought Saosin really stood out in that regard which is why they were always my favorite in that scene

They are still one of my favorite bands (Granted I really like Anthony Green the most) so I really love Circa Survive and His Solo material as well! Just being upfront! But I still absolutely love their music! I’m really happy Anthony is back! I love their new material so much too! But I do love all of their music from beginning to now!

I’ve never commented on a youtube video before but I just wanted to let you know how much I’ve enjoyed watching these, I’ve got some serious nostalgia going after revisiting some of these records. One band that has always stuck out to me from the 2000s emo days was Brand New, they seemed to have a level of songwriting talent and willingness to evolve that lots of the other bands from that era lacked - I’d love to see a video on those guys. Keep it up man!

StayKrafty dude that’s awesome, I’m only 19 but since I was 11-12 my dad (who had me with my mom in high school so they’re relatively young) showed all the music he liked in high school. Underoath was one he showed me that I liked a lot and thought I would never see them live but they got back together in 2016 and I got to see them in 2016 and again in 2017 with my dad and he said it was his 8th or 9th time seeing them 😂

Bro, THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU so much for making this video, I will watch it over and over... I just love Saosin SO much, particularly TTN and their eponymous full-length. I remember the first time I heard TTN, someone had it on in the background while they were doing stuff and I was just passing through the room doing laundry, and the sound of Saosin stopped me in my tracks, I felt like this was the sound I'd been waiting my whole life to hear... Downloaded the new album (which at the time was Saosin) pronto and have been truly in love with it ever since. I don't listen to that early stuff often as I've given it hundreds of listens, and now I save it for when I really need it, when I'm upset and need comfort I stick on Saosin or Iowa by SlipKnoT. Saosin the album ranks up there for me as one of the greatest albums of all time; it's not easy to get Saosin stuff in Australia, but I've got the album, the special edition of the album, the LP, the Come Close DVD, and a for radio release of Sleepers (also heaps of stickers, a big-ass poster and a zip-through hoodie). Again, thank you so very much for a video espousing the importance of Saosin and again I loved your one on how Slipknot got so big, you make really amazing clips bro, you're a f@#king legend...

Translating the Name is the biggest what if for me. That EP impacted me in such a strong way and I will forever wonder what could have been had Anthony stayed in Saosin and the group continued in the same sound that EP gave out. Also, thank you for talking about Finch as they are criminally underrated and What It Is to Burn was a foundation piece in my musical history.
