People spend money out of their living range. Credit cards enable people to be fake rich. If credit wasn't a thing you would see many more people living how they should be living. This would be lives less luxurious with less material goods and lower quality meals but removing the stress of debt and money you owe is a good sacrifice. Being debt free is a huge weight off people's shoulders.

@rich51649 ай бұрын
I think saying “most” people are fake rich is a coping mechanism. People say say that because it gives them reassurance they aren’t alone being broke. There’s a lot of money out there. A lot of generational wealth and high incomes in major cities. I felt like everyone was pretending when I moved to a wealthy suburb but I discovered “most” of these people are actually loaded, come from wealthy families, have double six figure incomes, regular blue collar jobs with high salaries. Even nurses now a days, which only requires a bachelors are getting paid 200k. Sure there are still people out there faking it but everyone needs to stop comparing themselves and just do whatever it takes and come up with a plan so they aren’t dying on the Walmart floor as a greeter when they are 80 years old.

She's not a gold digger. She married him without knowing. The fact she asked if she could quit her job, totally clueless about how much trouble he was in tells me he made a conscious effort to conceal his financial issues until she married him and took out a second mortgage she's now responsible for. That's calculated, deceptive, and predatory. One of the beautiful things about marriage is two people dividing up life's responsibilities so there's still hours left in the day to relax and enjoy each other's company. When both are in the workforce all day they come home and still have to deal with all the domestic stuff/errands/bills/cleaning/laundry and so forth, and the weekends are taken up by everything that didn't get done. When one person stays home to take care of all that during working hours both get to enjoy the night and weekends and relax/live a little. It's something humans figured out a long time ago that works quite nicely when both parties are sincere and good to one another.

People, please do pre-marital counseling BEFORE getting married. The dating stage is always deceptive. Life is not cute and sparkly and sunshine and rainbows... Ask the hard questions. Be 101% intentional about the beautiful but long road of marriage ahead. Prepare, or fail and divorce later.

Had an old car that needed repair, but he didn't have the money. This friend bought 'them' a house with her money, hoping he would get it together. Everything was in his name since before we were married. I had people coming to me asking about payment for things I knew nothing about. He turned out to be a very dishonest person. That marriage didn't last long. When I divorced him, my lawyer let the Judge know what he had been doing and asked that he be made legally responsible to pay all debts incurred during our marriage. The Judge was iffy about that and visitation with our child, do to his violence. That changed when my ex stood up in court, yelled at the Judge, telling him that he was going to rule in his favor. After that, the judge ruled everything in my favor. I still had people try to collect from me after that, but once they saw the divorce order, they left me alone.
