I agree, he didn’t negotiate in a rational way! Even if she quickly agreed for him to take on the absurd gun, he could have win even more by admitting, “thinking about it, that super gun is absurd, I’ll get this much more sane one instead!” That way he would have 2 ways to win. If they feel a need to be in agreement on large purchases, he’s still got a way to lose.

Raf Matt back in 1986 registration of new machine guns was eliminated, so there are only so many pre-1986 transferable machines in this country. There is way more people that want machine guns then people that have machine guns, and every year as some are destroyed, lost, or become damaged to the point that they are on usable, there are less of them, and there will never be any more added. The price continues to go up from already insane to astronomical. You can buy a nice A.R. 15 for $1000. To get a transferable full auto example you are going to pay over $30,000, and it’s not because the gun is inherently really any different. It just has a serial number that was registered as a machine gun that existed before 1986. The only difference in mechanical terms is a couple of other stamped sheet-metal trigger parts In the receiver. If you are interested in doing more research, you can look into the national firearms act, the 1986 Hughes amendment, and how the laws and markets work on transferable machine guns, as opposed to dealer sample, post 1986 Machine guns

Our rule for situations like this is if he gets $5,000 to spend on a luxury purchase, I also get $5,000 to spend on a luxury item. It has worked so well for us, both to keep us in check and to make it "fair." There are times when we give each other the gift of not having to give that amount to the other person, but as a rule it has been great!

He is a newbie wanting to compensate for his lack of skill and knowledge by owning an expensive gun. The answer you’re looking for is no. Not today, he can buy it later when he knows more about it. Look, earning $140K as a couple in California is NOT a lot of money. That’s kinda like $70K in Indiana. Prudent people don’t buy a $5K gun with that income.

The risk with a spender is that their habit prevents or substantially delays reaching goals. To avoid that, add a line item to the budget for 'luxury spending', or separate pots that each contribute to that can be spent individually. She said this purchase would constitute 2 months of cash flow. So, maybe a reasonable compromise is that each person gets 1 month if cash flow per year. Therefore, he can make a $5k purchase every 2 years.

What I've learned from a lifetime of purchases like this, is that when you 1st get the item you are ecstatic and then within a few months or years it just ends up sitting on a shelf collecting dust. If guns are his hobby and what he lives for, it's probably okay. If it's not that, he will end up looking at that gun a decade from now and wondering what the heck was he thinking.

Both wrong. It's a custom bolt action no doubt. She said he has firearms already, which means he has pistols and semi autos, and maybe a cheaper bolt action would 100% suffice but he likes to spend as well as have the same stuff his friends do.

Third guy is dead wrong too. Nobody “new to shooting is trying to get their hands in a custom bolt gun. It’s 99.9% a custom machined pistol. Almost assuredly a 1911, something out of Atlas comes to mind
@Billybillybillyrocking4 жыл бұрын
@@jacobearnhart7610 to get in California seems impossible. And subject to ridiculous fees and costs above and beyond the cost of the firearm. It has to be a rifle or shotgun. Rifle seems more plausible. Christensen arms carbon fiber build with scope would be 5k and legal in California.
