I'm also 24 my parents never saved, always lived paycheck to paycheck, financed every thing every chance they got, we had nice new things but when one little thing went wrong, we would have furniture repoed, a utility gets shut off for anywhere from a day to a week, it seems that they never learned their lesson as the process would eventually repeat with them, but I learned from that how I basically shouldn't handle money, I'm not perfect handling money by any means, sometimes I slip up and "have to" waste money but I'm more aware and responsible especially with Dave Ramsey guiding me.

I learned young to stack up projects to be more productive. If I had 10 things to do in a day chances are I’d get 9 done. If I had only 3 things to do I struggled to get them done. Free time was like a demon to me. “Idle hands are the devils workshop”. I became stressed anxious and unhappy. Not being ashamed to sound religious I prayed and talked with people I respect. Slowly God revealed His foundation plan “Love the Lord with all your might heart and soul love your neighbors as yourself. Seek first the kingdom of God”. Basically God help me prioritize what’s truly important. I knew these verses but I guess it wasn’t real to me until then. This journey started almost 20yrs ago. I never had a great epiphany in this time it’s been a slow progression. I feel good most of the time. The good life is the slow journey with the Lord for me.

It's social media... constant comparison not only to those within our social milieu, but also those well outside of it. it breeds rampant insecurity especially among millennials who have now faced two major economic setbacks since coming of working age. This topic about being "busy" hits me hard. I'm 25 years old, I have my own business (cellphone/repair store) that I've been in for about 4 years. I was able to scale save money over time but still have the blessing to enjoy life (traveling, trips, cars, etc). The point I'm getting to is where do I draw the line between doing what I love and doing what I'm good at? I've always had the passion for creating/videography and have been blessed to travel and meet amazing people but I feel like I'm tied down to by my cellphone stores, trying to micromanage that between trying to launch my videography/creative marketing company and the stress of dealing with other people around me, etc. I know I'm in a great spot financially, but mentally I'm torn between business and my passion turning into my main income.

I got the first CAD computer back in 1986 for our engineering company. I was astounded how quickly I could get things done. Same with the new word processors we used. But all we did was cram more work into the day, we didn't finish a "days worth" of work early and go home. It is based on the "tyranny of the immediate". We actually debated back then if we wanted to get a fax machine, simply because we knew our clients would EXPECT us to get the work done quicker and to them faster...putting a huge amount of strain on our employees. But hey, our competitors were going to, so we had to.

I agree with people not getting enough time to live life. Often get stuck also with a lot of peers that don't know how to stop or see stopping as evil. End up with cranky dissociated people or people that have to put in a show and fake it, with uneven measures of life, a bunch of money, and no fulfillment or sense of personal accomplishment in one's own familial life. Time being drawn away to business, or catching up with the economic curve and family no longer becomes a respite or place of growth, but a design of capitol empire or an ever consuming sort of lifestyle.
