I can totally relate to this situation. Same thing happened to me although without any children so I got lucky (I'm a male). I hope she reads these comments and sees how much energy people are sending out to her. It has become a blessing in disguise for me and I am in control of my finances more than ever. Everyone is assuming it was him that was having an affair. Noticed she said 'an affair is part of it' its usually the person who gets cheated on that wants things to end not the other way around. The scenario I'm thinking is the husband found out months ago, they were trying to work through it, he couldn't shake the torment of whether it was his baby she was carrying or not, the wife couldn't say with any certainty that it was and then the holidays and christmas time seeing loving families with children all smiles and happy probably just couldn't take another minute and had to get out regardless of it being Christmas eve.

Very possibly, but it doesn't change leaving a dependent woman with child. If you're right and he still wants out, he should be man enough remain with her (whether they live as married people or not) until after the pregnancy is over and she is in a stable position. Anything less is not being a man. He's the one who married her and put her in a financially-dependent position.

You know as a woman I’m going to say this. In this day and age there is no reason for a woman to be broke when her husband leaves. We see this time and again and we have these kids and develop a one track mind. I have many friends who was a stay at home or underemployed ( working part time around the kids) that husband left and those kids grew up and are too busy to even visit and now mom is working and not making enough to take care of her self. Women have to stop putting themselves in these situations. We know that men change like light bulbs and we still do dumb stuff.

My buddy was a county sheriff when he was a patrolman he would have to serve divorce papers. He told me many times the wife wanted the papers served during Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas. He then waited until the man packed his bags and escorted him out of the house. Stay single men.

No doubt she’s the one who cheated. The way she vaguely says “an affair is part it” without giving details and saying she wants to stay married and he wants a divorce points to her as the adulterer. Leaving a woman who’s 5 months pregnant leaves the man open for financial destruction, especially if he cheated on her. The only way a man with half a brain would leave in that situation is if she got knocked up by another man and he found out.

I cant think of a woman who isnt going to call out her husband for cheating if he is the one who had the affair, however usually the person who had the affair might be a little gun shy about admitting they are the one the caused the problem. She also didint sound that broken up about it to be honest, more worried about the financial implications. Notice how she also said that she didnt want to divorce and wanted to let him do it. Not to mention this dude was working on an emergency fund with her. I get the feeling she might have had an affair and the dude found out and wants out immediately. I mean to dump your wife before christmas and with 2 kids something must have happened.

But, when I listened to it again, it sounded differently. She just said that: "An affair is part of it". Most people would have said that "he's" having an affair. So, we really don't know.
