This is a huge problem in modern dating. Men think that just because they feel they make more than the average Joe that a woman is after them especially if the woman has standards. The woman he is looking for would be turned off by his attitude. Dont flaunt what you have an ppl wont know to come after you.

everyone should provide for themselves, she is not a baby. in that case no man should not be dating a woman that is not making as much as he is. We equal now, this is not the 1960's, she need to be able to provide for me just like I provide for her. The woman who dated this guy for 3 months and then asked about children etc. is a wise woman not a gold digger. She knows she doesn’t want to waste her or his time dating if they don’t have the same goals. She liked you and wanted to know do you want children,do you want a stay at home mom or working mom, do you have goals or will she be carrying the entire marriage. The best thing he can do is use discernment when dating. What are his goals. Marriage, kids, etc. If he’s dating someone and she’s asking for him to go to 5 star restaurants, buy expensive gifts, dresses in name brand clothing but doesn’t have her own income, stays at the nail salon, shops constantly then she prob won’t line up with his financial priorities.

It's one thing for a woman to only care about the money. It's quite another thing to expect a woman to not care about your work ethic, earning potential and how you handle money. I would fully EXPECT a woman to care about those things and would not consider one who didn't care. My wife wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. That's what we both wanted. Therefore, my ability to make $$ (eventually) was important. She was not able to stay at home until almost 6 years into the marriage and a year after our first child was born, but she hasn't looked back since.

It’s not lost on me that men can want a woman who cooks (1 thing), cleans (2 things), births multiple kids (at least three things), maintains weight post pregnancy (4 things), drives the kids to all their school, sport and doctor appointments (at least 5 things), does the shopping for in-house hold items whether it be food, snacks, sanitary items, back to school shopping (6 things), is ready to have s3x whenever he wants it despite women generally having lower libidos on average (7 things), but whenever women want a man who provides (1 thing) with people act like they are demon spawns. Too many dudes feel entitled to take from women without giving anything in return. Even in the first reply they named 1 thing for men (providing) and three things for women (loving, beautiful, kind). Ngl it generally makes it hard for me to feel sorry for men sometimes, especially when they go around proclaiming that women are only good for one thing and they expire.

People need money to live, to eat and to play. A potential dating partner is going to be evaluating you and what you bring to the table because that's how the world works. If she can't take care of herself, run. Simple. Caretaking is for when you're married and have health issues. And don't waste your time and get physical with them early on because that just clouds your judgment if you're a normal (not narcissistic) person.

VERY IMPORTANT FOR YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN! All the good ones get snatched up in their 20’s. Many times those good ones get cheated on and hurt in their 30’s, and now they have kids. In their 40’s they are “finding themselves.” In their 50’s they decided they don’t need anyone. In their 60’s they are lonely and realizing death is a decade or 2 away, and don’t want to die alone. My point is in your 20’s you need to focus on finding the right one, not finding one for right now. Your partner is WAY more important than getting college degree, the perfect job, etc. the right partner will make your life picture perfect, the wrong one can give you herpes from cheating on you, bankrupt you in divorce and keep you from seeing your children. Choose wisely. Your partner is THE most important decision you will make in your life

Knowing it's not too late is the only thing keeping me sane and knowing I'll soon finally be in a "steady-state" with everything I need and a + NW following DR and others' principles. Some of these comments primarily from men are just laughable and as a college educated white-collar professional in accounting and finance, they don't represent my lived experience. My career has spanned over 20 years since graduating from college in 2002. And in that time, I have worked with amazing, intelligent, college educated women who earn anywhere between $70,000 - $200,000+, which is more than many of you. If you are a high achiever, seek other high achievers. It is really that simple. And high achievers don't want yours, they take pride in their own accomplishments and their own money. The idea that there aren't woman out there who are high achievers and earn good coin is just ludicrous and wrong!

@@Shortballa11 I replied to you elsewhere but unlike many men on here, I am not and cannot be misogynistic or sexist on these topics and I'll tell you why. Because of the above comment. The benefit of having a career where I have worked with so many women is, I have encountered many women who are as smart or smarter than I am, who earn as much or more than I do, who have a sense of pride in their own accomplishments, etc. But then I come to sites like this, and it is one negative generalization after another! And even saying what I did would garner insults for claiming that any woman may be smarter than a me a man because you know, it is impossible for a woman to be smarter than a man.

I thinking asking "What are your professional goals?" is perfect to discern what type of person they are. If they have goals and talk passionately, they are probably career-driven. If they mention work-life balance or being able to earn enough to support a family, they are probably family-driven, but not afraid of work. If their avoid the question or mention other life goals apart from their career, they have no interest in working and would rather stay at home while you provide monetary support for the family. None of these are wrong. But just straight-up ask and most people are going to be honest.

The greatest advice from a divorce lawyer: live your truth. If you like a girl and she likes your money for a sense of security, then so be it. Dont go around looking for a girl who can take care of the kids and provide everything needed by herself. Just make sure she is responsible with her money and not asking you for stuff beyond her means.

This was horribly unhelpful! It is a huge problem today! No matter your net worth as a man, there are many women who really don’t care about the romantic part of a relationship. They just want provision. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to feel secure or wanting provision. But there’s a TON wrong with choosing a man solely for that purpose. They missed a giant opportunity here to talk about how to navigate the dating landscape regardless of net wealth and make sure you find a good woman who truly loves you for more than what you can ‘provide’ financially. For women, it’s about finding a man who loves you for more than looks. For men, it’s about finding a woman who loves you for more than what you provide financially. Both are reasonable expectations. But they are not the priorities.

The caller isn't all that yet. The hosts never asked how much debt he has to have all his bragging points. He wants to know how to find a woman who wants him for him and not for his money. My guess is he's flaunting his perceived wealth; he's driving a flashy car (probably with a payment); he owns a house (with a mortgage); and talking about how well he's doing in business (probably with a lot of debt). If he dials it back, stops talking about his wealth and his business success and drive an ordinary car, that'll attract women who like him and not be gold-diggers. He only makes $130k, which is nice for his age, but he's not a millionaire. It sounds like he's just full of himself.

"an equal". If you think the only thing that makes someone an equal is how much they make....smh The problem isn't him dating somebody simple like a waitress that doesn't make a lot of money. His problem is that he seems to flaunt how well he is doing which will then attract a certain type of person. Also just because you found someone that makes the same or more than you doesn't mean it is better for you. Hell, look at Ben Affleck and JLo. She makes more than him and wants like half of his money in divorce. Again, it comes down to the type of people that you attract. You can have money, attract a nice girl that makes little money and her not be a gold digger.

If you are a transactional person, you might decide to look for someone who has as much money as you so you won't resent them. If you find value in other qualities that can't be bought, that is when your money won't matter. You should find a woman whose qualities are not transactional. She probably would prefer a guy who will actually love her instead of buy her things. Gifts are nice, but if they are given with resentment, they are worthless no matter how much you paid. I hope you understand what I am talking about. It really is the thought that counts! That is still true, even if the person receiving it was not worthy of the gift. There is also more happiness in giving than there is in receiving. Try giving with no expectation of receiving in return sometime.

This guy is actually smart, have you been around 25 year olds these days? I know 35 year olds who haven't moved out of the house, we're not living in the old days where it way normal to have your shit together by 25, you would be amazed how childish modern young adults are. Ask them how much money they make and even see if they have any life goals before letting them into your life. Building a successful construction company by 25 is a huge accomplishment and don't let just anybody into your life have high standards. Like Ken said don't be hanging out at the trailer park or meeting randoms online. They're trying to clown him but I guarantee none of theses 2 had any success at his age, they don't even have their own business now...

LOL! 1st off, to live comfortably in 2024, in major US city, you'll need to make as individual: $96,500 per year, Household of 2 adults and 2 children: $235,000 per year. You make average $...If you want a girl that isn't in it for money, DONT BRING IT UP until things start to get serious. Men, should offer to pay for dates, unless she wants to. If you get serious, you discuss what your future holds. This guys frontal lobe hasn't developed yet.

Josh, if you read this, call Anthony O’Neil! He used to work for Dave Ramsey and had a great gold digger story. AO should’ve taken this call.

This is very interesting. He feels attracted to women that look like gold diggers , obviously but he doesnt want it at the same time. My question: are you interested in real women or in thophies? Obviously he is not saying: I want to fall i'm love with a great woman. So, his real question would be: how do I choose a woman who is not a lovely woman but a woman that looks like a gold diggerr so that she fits with my business visión?

It’s not as hard as people seem to think. I’ll give you my biggest tip on how to get there: -make sure you aren’t behaving with money in a different way than you normally do with money to get women. Don’t buy extravagant gifts that are out of your day to day purchasing range and don’t go around in a Rolex unless that’s what you do every day. That sets the expectations in reality and you find people who are in reality that way

It would be one thing if you're rich and you ask that, but 130K, is decent, but not rich. Real gold diggers will go after millionaires. So, I probably wouldn't concern yourself too much with that

I'd say 130k is a lot for a 25 year old. Golddiggers will you and abuse someone at 60k and leave. They surely will use and abuse a 25 year old at his income level.
