Therapist analzyes the lyrics to River by Wage War to discuss the importance of building internal trust after external trust has been betrayed. This song is actually a lesson in how to rebuild internal trust.

You really gotta check out The Valley by Whitechapel. The whole album is about Phils (the vocalist) childhood where he lost his dad at 10, and then his mom at 14 from a resulting drug addiction. His mom struggled with multiple personality disorder, and he opens the album with an entry from her journal that she hallucinated. There is so many powerful things for a therapist to dig into on that album and the one after.

I think as a therapist you will enjoy citizen soldier, every song is written to help people with mental health struggles. The frontman overcame his battle after an attempt to end himself and wrote the song " let it burn " during his stay in a psychiatric hospital. Hes now a practicing clinical therapist and writes powerful music.

This song, along with "Stitch" by the same band, were really meaningful to me when I went through a difficult breakup after being cheated on, and to this day they're some of my favourite songs of all time. Funnily enough, they were also the gateway that brought me from punk to heavy metal.

This is genuinely turning into one of my favourite channels due to the content and your reactions. I’d like to recommend “Poet and the Pendulum” live at Wembley by Nightwish. It is not the normal song people start with when it comes to Nightwish, however it is the song that suits this channel the most as it deals with depression and struggle. It was written by Nightwish’s song writer the keyboardist Tuomas during the hardest time in the bands history and he basically ended his life in the song to stop himself doing it in real life, however the new song finishes positively with a new beginning. It is one of the best written pieces of music you will come across and is broken into Acts. I won’t say more about it. Nightwish hold the record for most reacted song in KZbin history with “Ghost Love Score” (normally what people start their Nightwish journey with. However, as previously mentioned, “Poet” suits this channel perfectly, especially if the research is done on the songs meaning beforehand.

Their lyrics are thought-provoking and often resonate with listeners on a personal level, making their music cathartic and relatable. Some songs definitely worth checking out are: The Funeral, Fluorescents, Bruise, Flowers by the Bed, Fade, Little Bird, Bloom,...

@heartsupport this is my jam. My marriage ended with a cheating spouse. I've been betrayed in that way in most of my relationships. I feel like i can no longer have these feelings anyone ever again. When i have tried to date, I just feel nothing, no connection. I'm still learning to trust myself again. I'll see them at Welcome to Rockville this weekend in Daytona.

From ThriceTheThird: @ctip928 Hello! Being cheated on is an awful thing to go through, and I think that it is natural in this kind of situation to have a disconnect when starting to try to find new relationships again. It think some times this kind of thing can take time, and that you are doing the right thing in working on trying to trust/ work on yourself. Developing further self-love and self-care is definitely a great and positive thing to do. I would encourage you to keep trying, and hopefully with time you will be able to find someone whom you feel a connection with again in the future. Thanks for sharing what you are going through with us!

From Micro: @ctip928 Hey friend, Thank you so much for sharing all of this here. I'm really sorry that your relationship with your spouse ended up in such a brutal way. It's heartbreaking to share your life with someone, to learn to really trust them and to car eofr them, only to realize that they ended up cheating on you. It feels like the utmost betrayal that no one should ever experience. I can only imagine how painful it was for you to learn about it and to see this relationship coming to an end. Between the anger of being betrayed and the grief over losing someone you love... it's such a rough experience to walk through. What you describe about feeling like you can't have these feelings for anyone again really makes sense given what you've been through. Especially if it wasn't the first time. At some point, with repeated heartbreaks like this, you feel forced to ask yourself if you're not cursed somehow and meant to keep on re-living these same experiences over and over, regardless of how much you'd try for thingst to be different. It feel sas if the pain *will* happen anyway, so it feels safer to reatreat and stay on your own. I know for me personally, that when I face a hurtful pattern like this in my life, I can't help wondering what's wrong with me - which isn't a right question to ask, but the guilt and self-blame can linger so much when we're hurting already. It's this explosion of intense emotions that end up making you feel numb to the rest of the world and to what's happening outside of you. As you've said, you're still learning to trust yourself again, and it's absolutely okay if it takes time. There is no rush and no due date when it comes to healing from wounds we've been carrying in our heart. It takes time to find closure and a sense of meaning again when it feels like life crushed you in unfair ways. You can be proud of yourself for not pushing away the possibility to reconnect with someone in the future and being safe while doing so, and also for ensuring that you take your time and take care of you first. There will be a time when it will feel right again, and you are doing the right thing by listening to your heart right now. :heart:

I’ve had an on and off fling I guess you could say with a girl from work. I developed feelings for her but she didn’t want it to keep going, but she would always lead me on and we’d always relapse back into the habit. This went on for more than 2 years. I’d hear that she’d hang out with other guys, and anytime I wanted to spend time with her or talk to her she’d sometimes seem I was bothering her, I would back off then she’d come back to me. The last straw actually involved Wage War. They were coming to Rochester with A Day To Remember for an all acoustic concert but I opted out to go because I called off too much from work. But if she woulda asked me I woulda definitely gone with her. She KNEW Wage War was my favorite band but instead of asking me to go with her she asked a married man who’s cheated on his wife to go with her instead… after that I dropped her like a bad habit. I blocked her on everything, Facebook, Snapchat, even her number. She always treated me like a second option and eventually I got sick of it. Since then my trust in people has been very shaken. I should’ve known better.

From ThriceTheThird: @BillMoss97 Hello! I'm sorry you had to go through a situation like this with someone, who was being selfish and treating you in such a way. Where they gave you time at their convenience, without regard for your feelings. I think you did the right thing moving on from her. You deserve to be the first option for someone, and to feel first in someone's life as a significant other. I don't think you should feel guilty about having your trust a bit broken even going into meeting new people, after going through something like this it can take time to recover and process it all. I do however hope that with time you start to give some people a chance again, this way you can also give yourself the chance to find what you are looking for. Relationships aren't without risk, and some people definitely take advantage of people in ways they don't deserve. There are good people out there too also. It's just about being willing to take the risk enough times to find the right people. I think a big thing would just be to try to have healthy boundaries when going into knew relationships in the future, and make people earn your trust/prove they are in it for the right reasons, before you give too much yourself. As relationships should have equal amounts of effort and give an take on both sides to be healthy. Hope you're having an alright day when reading this! Feel free to share more with us if you ever want/need. <3

From Micro: @BillMoss97 You couldn't know, friend, and somehow you've been learning from this experience, even if it freaking hurts. It's not your fault. Sometimes we become so attached to someone that even if we know rationally the way this specific relationship functions, our emotions take over and we simply want to follow our heart. There is no fault in that. I'm sorry that this person didn't make you feel more valued and seen at the time. It's hard when you pour your heart out for someone but they just don't seem to be receptive on their end. It hits like a truck when you come to realizing that you might need to consider stepping away and setting boundaries. There is no doubt that this has been a painful loss and grief for you to walk through. It makes sense to feel like since then your trust in others has been profoundly shaken. It's objectively hard to learn to trust someone with ourselves when we've been deeply wounded by others already. Hiding, retreating, staying alone is a strong way to protect yourself, and it makes sense to opt for this as long as you don't feel ready to reconnect that way with someone. What might be important is to negotiate with yourself the perspective that the door doesn't have to remain closed forever - while it's okay to keep closed for as long as you need. There are good people out there and not everyone is going to hurt you the way she did. May you find peace, closure and healing my friend.

I was cheated on before my current relationship of 5+ years. I’ve spent the entire relationship easily paranoid, triggered by seemingly small things, I think everything she does to another human is flirting at times when I’m really triggered. It’s made it hard to discern between paranoia and my gut telling me if I shouldn’t trust her just like my ex
@HeartSupport
@HeartSupport 22 күн бұрын
From toastaintbad: @nomids8315 Hi @HeartSupport_Fans, I understand and relate to your post. It's good that you are aware of certain triggers. Have you ever talked to mental health professional about this issue? Did you talk with your girlfriend about your trigger?They might give you advice how to overcome triggers. If you ever face a trigger, I recommend to do things that makes you happy. It helps distract from something is bad going to happen. Trauma can affect on how you view others. Humans are always going to talk because it make them happy. I believed that your current girlfriend isn't like your ex. You have to trust yourself that the relationship is going to be fine. The more you overthink about something negative is going to make you feel worse. Focus on your having a healthy relationship with your current partner than your ex. Trauma doesn't mean it's gone completely. You will still have trigger once in a while. Just always remind yourself when having a trigger that I'm going to be fine and not let it ruin your day. I'm super sorry for you being cheated. Cheating isn't the best solution when someone is in a relationship. You found another partner that loves and treats you better than your ex.
@HeartSupport
@HeartSupport 5 күн бұрын
From Micro: @nomids8315 I m so sorry friend that you've been through this. Dealing with being cheated on in the past has left some deep scars, and it makes completly sense that it’s affecting how you see relationships now. It’s like you’re carrying around this heavy backpack of distrust and hurt, and it’s hard to put it down, especially when those old feelings get triggered. Feeling paranoid and second-guessing things, even the small stuff-man, that’s tough. It’s like your mind goes into overdrive sometimes, looking for signs that something might be wrong, even when there might not be. It’s exhausting to be on edge like that, always trying to read between the lines. And it’s tricky, right? Trying to figure out what’s your gut instinct and what might just be those old fears creeping in. It’s like trying to sort through a big mess of emotions and memories, trying to make sense of it all. That kind of confusion really messes with your heart. I imagine how frustrating it is when those feelings pop up, and you’re left wondering if you can trust what’s in front of you. A part of you wants to believe the best but another side of you is scared of letting your guard down again. The fact that you’re aware of all this and talk about it shows a lot of strength. It’s not easy to confront these feelings, let alone share them with someone. There’s hope in all of this too. Trust can take time to rebuild, but it’s possible. With open communication, and exploring ways to find closure with your wounds. It might take time, but there is hope my friend. I believe in you wholeheartedly. Thank you for being here and for sharing these parts of your story. Somehow, when you start putting words on these conflicting emotions, we also bring perspective over it, which helps taking steps towards healing. You're not crazy for feeling the way you do. It is a reflection of your pain, and I wish for you to find healing and closure through it. :heart:
