One thing I have to say about Jacques bar is that a stingray is much more dangerous than you'd think. The small stingray's that we pet in aquariums are obviously made safe, their barbs are clipped. A stingray has a spike in its tail that it uses to stab predators, and are sometimes venomous. Think of it as Steve Irwin being shanked.

Besides Napoleon(who wasn't even born in the mainland of France), and Joan of Arc, all other French victories were pretty basic in terms of other accomplishments by other nations. They had many many embarrassing defeats prior and after Napoleon, and were known by their allies to surrender quicker than most countries. The thing about the war history of the French, is that there really is no middle ground. When they win, they win HARD, and gloriously, but when they lose, they fold very quickly as well.

@@Cramblit there's also something else to remember - they carried the brunt of defense against the German offensive during WW1- they distinguished themselves amazingly whereas the British took a long time to get up to snuff for the war. And not to gloss over it, but Little Straw-Nose didn't win by himself - his victories came from French troops - as he famously bragged, "I spend 30,000 men a month." Like you said, they had hard losses, but many hard victories as well, and the huge miscalculation on how WW2 was going to be fought has brought them 80 years of unfair jokes. Speaking of hard fighting, if the French had taken their military a little more seriously after WWI, they may have stopped the German offensive in its tracks and WWII would of been very very different. French tanks specifically the B1 were extremely advanced in comparison to Hitlers tanks. There is a specific B1 tank that took 140 direct hits, and didn't get penetrated. All by the best German Anti Tank guns, and tanks. It went on to tank out entire squads of Anti Tank guns, artillery, and wrecked havoc on the battlefield. The only reason France collapsed so hard in WWII at the start, was because they were still celebrating and in denial about hitler (everyone was, so not on Frances lap), but also because they still had Infantry and Tanks fighting seperately, rather than supporting each other. Had France had a more combined arms take, and took Hitler even a little bit more seriously, I believe they could of halted Hitlers advance in its tracks, and brought a very swift end to the war before the Tiger I could be brought into service.
