Fish come in 4 sizes where I learned to fish. Too small, keeper, hawg(or pig) and DAMN SON!! No need to lose any more measuring boards :) Love that flathead catch!

Few weeks ago, i bought a hummingbird lakemaster card for my depth finder, and instead of me installing it into my depth finder on dry land, I decided to do it in the boat while on the lake. Well it slipped out of my finger and dropped to the bottom of the lake. Damn thing cost 160 bucks too 😕

Now the fish are down there measuring each others whiskers. Have dropped way too much stuff overboard myself and know how it feels. 5 pairs of eye glasses, 3 rod and reel combos, 2 cell phones and too many pairs of plies and fish grips to have an accurate count.

Drill a small hole in the measuring board and add a float. Anything that can go overboard I always hook a small piece of pool noodle to. Keeps a lot of things from sinking to the bottom lol.

Treble hooks come in handy for more than just fishin Justin, lol. Especially if you don't have a floatation device attached to your gear like one guy suggested. I went to clip the tag end off my retie with nail clippers n cold wet fingers. When I squeezed m to cut they shot outta my fingers n ended up in the same spot in a different river😂. I have always noticed that you land fish with your right hand even though you are left-handed. Doing this means that you have to cross your body with the fish to put it on the measuring board. I see that you have your measuring board oriented to the left in all likelihood to avoid the electronic gear so switching the board would not serve the purpose. So why not change how you land the fish? Have you considered using your dominant hand to land the fish and thereby have the gloved hand on the left and you would not have to cross your body every time. Another thing you talk about is getting the fish to cooperate when trying to measure and photograph them. Why not attach velcro strips to the underside of the measuring board that can be use to hold the fish in the proper position? I love your show, am waiting for my propeller to get back so I can try out some of your techniques on Lake Eufaula. Besides cut and live bait, I am also going to try using some deer meat I have for bait. OH! One other request.........in your openings, when you mention what date is, you might want to mention the year as well. Given you have been on for some time now, it makes it easier for us to go back and watch older videos and know exactly when they occurred. I only make these recommendations for your consideration in hopes making things better, for you and for us as viewers. But, I will obviously defer to your decisions as you are the one who has made this site into a full-time job for you. Kevin

@kayakcatfish I've had one of your golly whopper rods since you launched them but haven't even opened it out of the tube it was shipped in because I haven't been able to afford a reel worthy enough for it. Which reel would you recommend is the best bang for the buck that would be comparable for it? I might've got ahead of myself and probably didn't have any business buying a rod that nice but I dont want to slap just any reel on it. Any input would be much appreciated!

Thanks for buying the rod! I hope you put it to use and catch some monsters with it. There are a lot of great reels on the market. The Okuma clx reels are budget friendly and work well for their price range. Abu Garcia c3 and Diawa Seagate are some good mid price range options. I currently use Shimano tekota reels which are a little more expensive but great reels.
