I used to drink heavily because of a very stressful job. I quit the job and then eventually quit drinking which was a slow weaning process. Today, I would not like to even have the occasional moderate drink because I know if I do, I'll just come up with some excuse to just have a drink. If you can ignore the addictive component of alcohol and the impact on the number of lives that one alcoholic has and ignore how a few people who drink alcohol encourage many who may become alcoholics, then there may still be not much harm to 1% to 2% but the vast majority of us have to suffer the violence, crime, rape, murder and abuse that alcohol causes.

I have also seen people, living like an animal, screwing every girl that crossed their path and drunk like a hippo and lived till 90. Then I ask myself, what age is enough, what makes a life conclude, how does conclusion feel like. So sometimes I drink and sometimes I don't, sometimes I eat healthy sometimes I binge. My grandma had a condition where she had to go to doctor for blood letting. "Thick blood" was the explanation I was given. Then her doctor told her to drink red wine, a ladleful at night, and after her visits were only half as often. When I was studying the doctor giving a lecture made an anecdotal comment about his experience of autopsies he had attended: alcoholics had totally messed up livers but their veins were "beautiful" and clean of any fat deposits (allowing the flow of blood and nutrients & oxygen in it)... It makes a sense to me, especially as older people have a tendency of accumulations of fat deposits in the veins - but I believe that a unit a week is probably enough; you don't want to put undue strain on the rest of the organs. You are only likely to benefit from that routine until you are around 50 or your menopause has started, when your hormonal levels are not as efficient to protect from a heart attack as before. I consider alcohol should be treated like a medicine: a little might do you good but overdoing it is just as harmful as any drug - rather than giving an absolute ban we should look at more precisely what the safe dosage and frequency of consumption is.

Looking at the study, the main driver of increased risk appears to be tuberculosis, plus breast cancer for women and oral cancer for men. Heart disease and diabetes drop with moderate consumption. If you live in a developed country, you're probably not too worried about tb. For a non-smoker such as myself, oral cancer isn't that high of a concern compared to heart disease. As he says, a global study doesn't mean that a couple of drinks are unsafe where you live.

The truth is drinking alcohol extends a persons lifespan and improves your health. Medical studies almost always say drinking is bad. Because it is bad for their business. All you have to do is look at how long George Burns lived drinking 5 martinis a day. And look at Queen Elizabeth at 94 and still going drinking 4 cocktails per day. Of course the medical field wants more business.

" Of course I have witnessed all my life how people who drink alcohol don't get as sick, and live longer. What the doctor says contradicts the Bible and all the evidence I have seen the last 53 years. I am lot looking to buy ocean front property in Arizona or the idea that drinking alcohol is unhealthy .

I used to drink heavily because of a very stressful job. I quit the job and then eventually quit drinking which was a slow weaning process. Today, I would not like to even have the occasional moderate drink because I know if I do, I'll just come up with some excuse to just have a drink. Like _"Oh, I'm typing a KZbin comment which would be more fun if I had a drink in my hand."_

Believing in god is the logical option. Scientist believe in the idea of natural cause. The universe was created by a cause and that cause was created by a cause and that cause was created by another cause and so on - this creates the problem of infinte regression and if you have infinte regression then you would never have a universe. So therefore the cause of the universe needs to be be uncaused; I believe the universe had a beginning, which therefore required a cause and that uncaused cause required consciousness (to decide when to create the universe or we get that the infinte regression problem again) and intelligence (to weight things perfectly) and power (to create it). Islam refers to this super entity as GOD (arabic word for god, ALLAH). Christanity and Islam are the best religions that potray this god but christanity is based on false lies. The idea of trinity by all means makes it less crediable. In addition the idea or word of Trinity isn't even mentioned in God's word, the Holy Bible. A check of any concordance will prove this fact. Not only is it not mentioned, but the doctrine is neither found in the New Testament nor the Old Testament. The bible is often changed to fit the worlds standards. The English changed the bible to say that the royal family is the closest to god than anyone else and the Europeans changed the bible to fit their narative that the white race is the most superior race - its been misinterprated it for their own gains. The quran is the words of god and unlike the bible it is perfect and doesn't need to be changed, it says that the black man is the same as the white man , just as much as the white man is the same as the arab and to enslave a man that allah made free is to go against allah. The bible doesn't say stuff like this but vague stuff like "love thy neighbour". Judasim is the early version of Islam; in the sense that jews believe in allah but don't believe in Muhammed (Pbuh) and Isa (jesus, Pbuh) as gods prophet; jews dont drink alcohol nor do they eat pigs. Islam is the right choice and the answer to many problems. My friend asked me the question, "what if your believe is wrong and there is no life after this?" my answer to him was that - "then i have nothing to lose". I dont drink, i dont smoke, i give 10% of my wealth to charity yearly, I'm obliged to take care of my elders and parents when they become old, i dont deal in intrest, dont gamble etc.

blackmore4 Last recent study I read says even raw cows milk is healthy for us. But that was not at all my point. My point was/is that one study does not make science and even when science agree’s, they often change their minds. Even Stephen Hawking proved himself wrong on at least three occasions. The only guarantee we have from conception is death. For all the worry about longevity, why is there so little attention paid to quality of life. We have hundreds of thousands of people just in the USA who can no longer get any pain relief due to a political agenda that punishes doctors while inappropriately taking on the role of a physician and further punishing law abiding citizens who suffer from debilitating chronic pain for what criminals do. As one example...
@blackmore4
@blackmore4 6 жыл бұрын
I understood your point and particularly agree with you about the stupidity of the lack of attention to "quality of life". However, there are better examples than the scientific contradictions about the effects of milk consumption to that of alcohol. The more 'shock' studies about booze the better, in my opinion, whether they're consistent or not. Whatever the minor inconsistencies in study findings, it's so obviously one of the most toxic substances. But unlike equally poisonous options such as heroin, cocaine or tobacco, still has an image of sophistication and normality.

@@BaronVonTacocat Yep, that's what I was thinking too. In fact, I remember quite specifically when they started in on smoking they pushed that lung cancer would be eradicated and that with a year or so of quitting your lungs would be just like you never smoked at all, all pink and healthy again. I thought it was a load of bs then and sure enough decades later it was proven to be lies just to get people to quit. Now I am NOT saying smoking doesn't cause lung problems, it does, but they didn't have to lie and exaggerate the issues. I, quite frankly, have found more true tolerance and acceptance on the right than I do from the left. Funny, it didn't use to be that way, progressivism is definitely a huge problem, and a contradictory term. Just what are we progressing to, it's a disturbing thought today. The specialist said in moderation alcohol reduces the risk of stroke, heart disease, dementia and diabetes. This particular study confused acute and chronic harm of alcohol, deaths and accidents where high amounts of alcohol was in the system like drinking and driving and the long term use of alcohol and how it affects the body. My guess is that the study ignored the fact that the effect of acute alcohol consumption didn't affect the health just large amounts impairs your thinking and increases you chances of making poor decisions that cause death. Likewise moderation is key, too much of anything is bad for your health. Fake news

This isn't unlike saying, no amount of ice cream is good for you ... overall. Because of the number of people who have diabetes. Nutrition science is fun.
