George hit the nail on the head. "at some point we have to do what we don't want to do " I constantly hear these excuses about all the reasons people cannot do things, not just about finances. It all boils down to people just not wanting to do things that make them uncomfortable. It stinks, but at times in life we have to just do it. It will be a hassle, hard, frustrating and uncomfortable. If work was fun, you would not get paid. I was a restaurant manager for 20 years. I worked 60 plus hours a week and was a single mother. I enjoyed the job, but the hours stunk. It was hard, it was a struggle, but, I had to take care of my kids, so I did it. I live in Texas and I HATE mowing my lawn. It is so hot. Each week I am out there with a mower and mowing that lawn. I could make every excuse to spend the money on a service, but, I just shut up the talk in my head and go do it. This sounds like a small example, but, we are faced with a series of all these things each day, just shut out that conversation in your head and get it done. Success comes to those who hate doing things and do them anyhow.

I make 180k a year at my job and still go to yard sales on Saturday mornings and find stuff to flip on ebay lol. My wife is stay at home and she does the shipping so it gives her something to do as well. We sell about 5 items a day and avg $15 profit per item net. Extra 2k a month. We don't need it but it's also very easy to do for literally very minimal effort. I tell relatives this and say, hey come with us I'll show you how to do this. "I'm busy this weekend. For full time (32 hrs a week) benefits including PTO, holiday pay, insurance and help towards further education are standard. Classic example of people who make a bunch of irresponsible decisions including DUI, firing (doesn't happen to diligent responsible workers), house nightmare, leaving a secure job, etc etc. And then you become defeated. And then all of a sudden everything becomes an excuse rather than a result of your decisions. And now you're on the path where you resigned yourself to selecting choices which are going to keep you in the victim/excuse whatever mentality. I don't want to sound heartless. I mean I want these people to get motivated because they can do much better than this. But right now it's a mentality problem. Don't become the person who makes some mistakes, and then decides to live in the land of excuses, and then act like you had no choice. Dude, husband needs to get a better job. But also you're getting the second interviews, that means you're really close to getting hired. Why would you give up when you're that close? Really frustrating when it seems like they just want to select defeat. I understand it's hard to get motivated when you had a really bad streak. But that's what they need. They need motivation

Actually, she said she was working 60-70 hrs. weekly and making 60k. She'd be better off being a c.n.a. making 50k. Then she could pick up a part time job and make another 20k or even more. So 75k in same number working hrs.

$25 an hour @ 40 hours a week annualized is $52k and OT is likely available and would be another $25k if she works 60 hours. I’m not following how a restaurant manager position she can’t find is a better option than just going to work as a CNA.

Luckily I’m blessed after fighting the VA for years and social security but I’m a mess and miss working and having fruitful career. Severe osteoarthritis of the spine, ptsd, vertigo, tinnitus, insomnia, depression, you name it I have story too but no one cares. Have to fight for yourself. Life has happened to you. Imagine what military veterans do. Some are addicted to drugs and alcohol and homeless. Many of my friends are dead. There happiness is neither here nor there

If the pipes bust internally, the insurance is usually required to cover that from what I understand. Anyone know differently?
@user-mv9tt4st9k11 ай бұрын
IF they had insurance. An insurance rep would have come out to inspect the damage; a burst pipe looks very different than a pipe that may have corroded or rusted away. It seems to be a racket that people claim a burst pipe, have an emergency plumber assess as a "burst pipe" and repair the damage but not document it (e.g., images), and then the plumber is paid through the insurer. If the insurance rep beats the plumber to the damage, the homeowner is on the hook if the pipes are not actually burst.
