My uncle has a 2018 one, and drives it really hard but also maintains it and services it very well. It has the same kms as this one. The oil thing is true, that it needs a lot of oil, he tops the oil many times in between services but I think the issue only matters if you ignore the low oil warning. The only problem he had was a broken suspension air bag leading to the car sagging, but he ordered an OEM part from Germany and had it fixed, didn't cost as much. Other than that didn't have any issues. It drives so well and the thing that surprised me more than how fast it was how good the brakes are. Love it when I get the chance to drive it and it sounds so good straight from the factory and even better with a few tasteful mods.

I have a 2016 X5M. It looks and drives like new due to regular servicing. I've had the rear airbags go, but I have the extended warranty so that repair was fully covered, as was a turbo line that was leaking. No rattles or anything within the interior. She does burn through tires, but that has to do with my driving habits. I do not regret the purchase.

I own one and can confirm that this car is an absolute beast. People that want to hate SUV's clearly haven`t owned and lived with a high performance SUV. This is to me the perfect compromise for people that do not care about the show off factor and track racing but rather care about the high performance engine and the drive compared with the practicability. Unless you are planning to take this to the track (which you won`t because you are buying an SUV) this will give you all the handling and performance you need in real life, and then some. PRO`s: Surprisingly great handling for an SUV. Great comfort and high driving position which is very good for overtaking and going in and out of the car in tight parking spots. Fuel consumption on highway driving is very good and you can tow anything. Bose sound system is great. CON`s: Very stiff ride as it is a proper M car with stiff suspension and low profile tyres. Bad fuel consumption for city driving. Tyres is very expensive (325mm wide in rear) but there are cheaper alternatives (hankook) and I would say I change tyres about every 18-20 months on average (obviously depends on mileage and what type of driving you do). I bought the car 2 years old and it had depreciated 50% due to above average mileage. Since this is has only depreciated another 30% in my 5 1/2 years of ownership. ISSUES: To start with I`ve had absolutely none of the issues mentioned in the video expect the oil issue which I solve by always having 1L of oil in the back of the car that I fill immediately when the oil light comes on. I had a 5 year warranty and extended it by 2 years. Year 4 I had an issue with the tyre sensors that took several attempts to fix. Year 5 it had an issue with the main computer/control unit which also took a while to solve. Year 6 it had a cracked cylinder and I got a brand new engine installed. Year 7 the rear right air suspension got replaced. All this, including brakes, got covered by warranty. It has been flawless for 1 1/2 year since the engine was replaced and since the warranty ended and the first 25k service is soon coming up. Considering all the new X5M/X6M/M6/M5 (and actually now the Range Rover Sport Supercharged) all have versions of the same engine I would say this is a lot of bang for your buck compared to those new and considerably more expensive cars. I was selling at the end of the extended warranty but with the new engine I will keep it for many more years.

There's loads of great German cars, you just gotta know which ones to pick, like a F20 1-series for example is great, some engines have some niggles but it's pretty rare.
@Blondul119 ай бұрын
@@kristoffer3000 actually problems are not pretty rare. Particularly on the diesel 2 litre engines in the F20, the timing chain fails quite often, I personally know 2 people that had issues with that engine, after I told them not to buy it. @@Blondul11 They fixed a lot of the timing chain issues so it's much rarer in F-series cars than it was in E-series cars, they're really not bad engines at all. Also all the petrol engines are good, not just the 120i and up.

I had the pleasure to swop cars with a mate for a week a little while ago. He took my 2016 BMW F80 M3 and I got his 2017 X5M50D. Same chassis as the one in this video. It’s a absolute beast of a machine! I never ever liked the idea of a SUV. But I must admit, if I ever had to get one it would be something like that one. How to describe the X5M50D in one world….I would have to say : “Capable”. It can really do everything.That’s the pro of these kinds of cars. But that’s also the con at the same time. Because even though it’s so capable in every department, it doesn’t really excel in any area. It’s comfy, yes, spacious, yes, fast enough yes, luxurious enough, absolutely, good-looking enough, yes, driving dynamics & handling, very decent. But there are so many cars out there that can do the same job, or better, and do it using less fuel, that are lighter and thus use less consumables like fuel, brakes, tyres etc. So imo, even though I respect the X5 massively, especially as a BMW fan of 30yrs and BMW-owner of 10yrs plus, I would rather have something like a 3-or-5-series touring to be honest. Does the same job, for much less money, and running costs are cheaper too. Win-win. Once again thanks for the top review Adam. Informative, entertaining, great visuals, and SUPER funny too😅Great stuff, keep it up👍 And as always, my rating for this review is a solid: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 😃From a loyal follower in sunny South Africa🇿🇦☀️

Better off going for the X5 50I, still got the 4.4L V8 and a hell of a lot cheaper to buy and run. At 445hp it's got more power than you will ever need, plus it's a more comfortable drive with less stiffer suspension.

Terrific review .... and I agree the ergonomics in BMWs is just stunning. The X5 is a master stroke. In 2000, at BMW car club Oktoberfest in New Hampshire I got to drive the X5 at its introduction and was immediately blown away. I'm glad that hasn't changed dramatically. 50 year BMW Enthusiast here... and still find no more appealing marque. However BMW has certainly come up with some doozies in the aesthetic Department! Just perusing my local dealer I saw a beautiful M3 dark blue with saddle interior, 3 pedal, that caught my interest. But that front end grill, ugh. Didn't really need it anyway as I am very happy with my lo mi E46 330ci vert and '72 pristine 2002. Don't need no high-tech uglies! I rented a 5 series 4 years ago and the drive was awesome! I had a blast with the paddle shifters. When I got home I started looking for a used one it was that good. Then I suddenly realized it was nothing to look at. Come on BMW get it together.

Can't talk about the X5M but have owned 3 X5 3.0d's. The last one did 170k without anything but scheduled maintenance. The 3.0 turbo diesel had plenty of torque, plenty of room, plenty of storage and averaged 8.0 litres/100km fuel burn which is awesome for a car it's size. Currently own a new 2020 X5 3.0d which has been flawless. Personally, I think the 4.4 litre twin turbo is overkill.

As others have said the X5 m50i is likely the better overall choice. That being said, if you go test drive an X5M, you may end up buying it regardless of what your logical brain should be telling you. I made that mistake at the Porsche dealer... I have taken both the X5 M50i and the X5M out for lengthy test drives, both are amazing SUV's. The X5M is noticeably stiffer, and not the best on bad roads. The M50i still has a lot of V8 grunt, but it doesn't look as good as the X5M and it doesn't make quite the same exhaust noises. I think its worth owning an X5M at least once to experience it. My neighbor has one and I can always hear it start! Goes through rear tires like crazy though but its been reliable for them.

German built MB ML's from 2011 to 2015 seem to have NO issues at all. Reliability differences between US and Germany built cars is outstanding. Moral of the story is that it is better to buy a less "prestige" European car, like a VW or a Skoda than ANY US built car.

That cockpit looks small dude. 6:30 The backseat looks lil bit tight. (I can’t have no fun in the front or back with my girl) Car looks good probably feels good but what about maintenance? This car has issues it shouldn’t have in 2024 these cars just aren’t worth a house

Hey Adam and hi Jim. I watch your channel from UK. Wondering what your experience with Jagggggs are like? You got any rich friends with XFR-S? Parts for you guys must not be easy or cheap? The 2015 2.0 diesel is more realistic. The black trims/ R sport is a good looking car. Food for thoughts? ☺️

Mazda dealership tried to charge me $6k for injectors on a CX9. I found genuine Bosch injectors for $350 on EBay. Never buy off a dealer.

True. But I've been lucky there or had a different experience. Could never afford a new one...but inspite of the high costs of repairs off n on its been worth it. Always have fingers crossed though 😉
